"A truce? Steven are you crazy?!" Pearl shouted, Steven standing next to Peridot, who was holding up the Diamond Communicator. Steven shrugged, kicking up some of the dirt at his feet. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Yellow Diamond had offered the speak to them, and after Peridot fixed the Communicator, Steven spent some time with her.
She was angry then Steven last imagined. She mostly tried to talk about Steven's death and destruction, but Steven managed to steer it to another subject. A truce, in which she has to come to Earth, unarmed, by herself, and for one day she had to stay with Steven. Just to see the Earth before she decided to destroy it. Maybe, if she saw how pretty everything was, she wouldn't destroy it.
"Well, here she comes." Steven said, pointing up to a diamond shaped flying object in the sky. Yellow Diamond. Pearl immediately pulled out her spear, Garnet stayed where she was, just watching the spaceship, and Amethyst was now going insane. Peridot fidgeted nervously with her fingers.
The spaceship landed, and Yellow Diamond walked out. It was quite a surprise. She was only slightly taller than Garnet, wearing all yellows, which hurt Steven's eyes a bit, and black polished boots.
"Hello....Steven." she said, her voice hostile and her eyes darting over to Pearl's sharped spear. Pearl was shaking.
"Hi! Remember me!" Steven said, running up to her. There was a shriek of warning from Pearl, and just more silence from Garnet, Amethyst was too busy blankly staring up at Yellow Diamond.
"Yes, I do."
"And our truce!" Steven said with a smile. She sighed.
"Yes, I remember our truce." she said. Steven turned around to the Crystal Gems, with a huge smile on his face.
"Told you!" None of them looked very happy, Amethyst had now passed out, Garnet calmly standing still, Pearl shaking so hard that Steven was afraid that she might explode, and Peridot staring.
"So this is Earth." she said, looking around. It was too bright, technicolored. Yellow and black were the only colors that a dignified planet would need.
She stepped forward, and quickly stepped back, lifting up her boot.
"What is that?"
"That's grass."
"Is it dangerous?" she asked. Steven grinned. It was like having Peridot come onto Earth all over again.
"Nothing here is really dangerous." Steven explained. Yellow Diamond looked down at Pearl, who was still pointing her spear at her.
"What about her?"
"Only a little."
Hm.
"Okay then. Take me to your scientists. Armory. Something useful. Someone who knows things." Yellow Diamond said, waving her hand around.
"Someone.....knows things...Oh!" Steven said, grabbing Yellow Diamonds hand, and pulling her along. She stuttered.
"Aren't we going by a warp pad?" she managed to ask. Steven shook his head.
"We walk on this planet."
"On the grass?" she asked. The ground shifted under her and she jumped.
"And sand. That's called sand." Steven offered. They started their walk over to the Boardwalk.
"And what is this?"
"It's where the people live. There's all really nice, and I know exactly the person who you need to meet." Steven said. What a strange planet. The skies were light blue, tinting dark towards the edges. Strange. Living things were constantly around. Humans, Steven, one green frog that hopped past them.
Everything was moving, breathing. Strange planet indeed.
And finally they reached it.
"And what is this?"
"This is a light house."
"Light...house..." She repeated, trying the word. Steven knocked on the door. There were footsteps from inside.
"This is the person who knows things." Steven said. Ronaldo opened the door, and stared at Yellow Diamond.
"Sentient Rocks." he breathed. "Amazing."
"Ah, so you do know about me?"
"You're part of the Diamond Authority! Yellow Diamond! Where are the others?" he asked, looking around.
"It's just her."
"Oh, that's wonderful!" he said. "Come in, come in." Yellow Diamond had to duck to get inside.
"How much do you know?" Yellow Diamond asked. Ronaldo smiled.
"Oh, everything." They reached the top level. There were cutouts of newspapers, old books, and dusty sheets of paper. Yellow Diamond picked one up.
"This is.....amazing." she said. Steven smiled. For the next few hours, they talked about theories about the Gems, and their powers, and about humans.
Steven was sure that she wouldn't attack Earth again.
And she didn't.
