Cause why not XD

~

You rarely felt in a good mood anymore. Tiredness seemed to drag your every footstep down, like it was pulling you into the ground, wanting to devour you. Some days you wished it did. As an effect of your constant complaining and mumbling, your mother signed you up for group therapy.

It wasn't that you were depressed, it was just that you were having a hard time. A few days with fresh air and sunlight and quiet. Instead you got the opposite.

The therapy group was held in the church down the street, where sunlight never reached inside of it and there was the steady sound of chanting every hour of the day and the air smelled like mold. It was horrible. You slowly progressed into a slump, not wanting to get out of bed, just wanting to curl up on your bed.

But four days out of the seven that you had in the week, your mother took you to the therapy group, and dropped you off. If only she actually walked into the church with you, and saw how horrible and decaying everything was, she would never bring you there again, but she never did. She was always busy.

Another day, you were dropped off, your mother waving and smiling and you attempting to smile. You walked in, swearing that the carpet felt soggy underneath your weight.

There was the circle of chairs, half of which were full and you knew the other half would remain empty for the duration of the therapy. With the teenagers, emos, and just straight up depressed people, you blended in well in the group of solemn gray hoodies.

Then the doors opened again. It was a surprise, but not a big one. People went and came, sometimes because they were fixed from their addictive habits, sometimes for other reasons.

But what you saw was the surprise.

A slim, graceful, pale, tall, and beautiful woman walking in with a spring in her step, like she had something to live for. She was adorned in a light blue outfit that complimented her paleness well. And although she had a few oddities, you pushed them away. She was pretty.

She sat down next to you, and looked around the group, with a small frown. She had obviously been expecting more.

"Hi." you managed to say. The word seemed so out of place. A greeting.

"Hello. Is this going to start soon?" she asked, making you nod. She sighed and leaned back in her chair. You looked at her for a while. She might have an eating disorder, the fact that she was skinny seemed to imply towards it.

And eating problem? It didn't look like it. She was skinny, yes, but she seemed happier and healthier than anyone in the room.

"My name's Pearl." she said after a silence, not particularly awkward, but it was hard to tell what emotion lingered between you and Pearl.

"{y/n}."

"Nice name." Pearl said. You gathered the courage to say the next line that you made in your mind.

"I-I've never seen you around before." you started to say with confidence that soon diminished.

"I live near the cliff."

"The big one?"

"Yes." she said, ending the conversation prematurely.

The therapy group seemed to pass much quicker this time, especially because of the fact that there was a pretty lady sitting next to you and you watched her like your life depended on it.

You two left the church at the same time, and you watched from a not too far away distance as a chubby boy ran up to her and wrapped both arms around her. A taller lady watched, and a.......purple girl was with her as well.

"You were gone for forever! Garnet said you would only be gone for half an hour." the boy shouted.

"Steven, I was only gone for an hour." Pearl said, blushing. Garnet looked at Pearl, Steven, than, strangely at you.

"Pearl, you made a friend. Maybe you should introduce {y/n}." Garnet said, you were surprised that she knew your name. Pearl turned to you.

"That's....um....{y/n}." Pearl said. It was painful to see such a graceful lady trip over her words like that. You tried to make yourself look smaller by cowering away in your oversized hoodie, but Steven didn't seem to notice. He ran up to you, with the same radiant energy that you wished you still had.

"That's a nice name! Hey, you two should have a sleepover!" Steven said, and you were a little surprised by the turn of events that evening. You were expecting to just go on with your bland life, but instead, you met a new friend, and got some real help from Steven and Pearl.

You go to visit her every Friday now.
