YellowTail glared at Marty, a wordless argument raging between them. Sour Cream broke the tension between them.
"Dad!" Sour Cream shouted and ran to his dad. YellowTail watched from behind.
"Hey son. I'm sorry, but I have some work to do. You understand, don't you?" Marty asked. Sour Cream nodded and looked down. Marty got into his car and drove away.
"It's okay." Sour Cream said to himself. "At least this time I'm not five. At least I know about my dad. At least I'm not asking mom if I looked like him. At least I'm not five and asking why dad left me. At least..." Tears started to prick his eyes. YellowTail placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Soem?" YellowTail asked.
"Well, I don't need him. I learn how to ride a bike without him. I l-learned how to be a DJ without him! Tie my shoes, shoot my first basketball through a hoop! OH! And I had 17 great birthdays without him!" Sour Cream said. He suddenly realized something.
"HE NEVER SENT ME A FRICKIN' BIRTHDAY CARD. WELL FORGET HIM! LIKE HE FORGOT ME!"Sour Cream said. YellowTail watched, sympathetic.
"AND I DON'T NEED HIM NOW!" Sour Cream shouted as his shoulder scrunched up.
"NO NOT AT ALL. I'M GOING TO GET THROUGH COLLEGE WITHOUT HIM! I'M GOING TO BE A GREAT DJ WITHOUT HIM! IF I EVER BECOME A FATHER I WILL BE BETTER FATHER THAN HIM BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHIGN HE CAN TEACH ME ABOUT LOVING MY KIDS." Sour Cream shouted. Tears streamed down his face and he turned to look at YellowTail. YellowTail looked back up at him, his eyes wide.
"How come he doesn't want me?" he asked, looking down. YellowTail pulled him into a hug and Sour Cream sobbed into his shoulder.
