Each gem has their preferred music to fuse with and their own music style that fits with their fighting style.
Pearl- Ballet
Amethyst- Hip-Hop
Garnet- R&B
Steven- Indie/ Guitar
Connie- Synth/ Violin
Rose- Soulful/ Rock Guitar
Ruby- Pop
Sapphire- Slow
When a fusion works really well, their styles go together well. Opal is light and bouncy, but strong, similar to both hip hop and ballet.
Garnet is R&B which is similar to pop music, but slower and more soulful, like how ruby and sapphire overlap and reluctant of her personality.
And when two gems' music styles just don't work, like Jasper and Lapis, they form a cacophonic fusion. It is a large and monstrous, similar to how loud and unsettling two abhorrent music styles sound together. Sardonyx has 4 eyes and 4 arms, showing how although the 2 styles do not blend perfectly, they do complement each other.
Oh yeah, and Peridot is dubstep.
