Life's a Beach

Jimin was tired.

He was so incredibly tired of everything.

He was tired of having to be careful of what he said and what he did.  He was tired of living up to the expectations of others.  He was tired of the responsibilities of being an icon.  He was just flat out tired of all of it.

All he wanted to do was live his life.  To be able to admit who he was openly without fear that he'd lose everything he'd worked so hard for.  To be able to have someone genuinely love him for who he is and not for his fame or wealth.

So Jimin did exactly what everyone does from time to time when they just need a break.  He ran away on a vacation.  One where he intended to decide what to do with himself.

The beaches of California drew Jimin in and he decided that he had to get as far from South Korea as a plane would allow him to be.  He packed his bags and headed out with just his personal assistant in tow.  Against Min Yoongi's will, he found himself planted on a beach, face lathered in sunscreen and a rainbow umbrella protecting him from the sun.

"Don't be so dramatic, Yoongi-hyung.  It's not that bad.  Its fresh air and sunshine.  You could use a little more of that.  You spend way too much time holed up in your office," Jimin chirped cheerfully as he spread out his chair and belongings in the sand.

It hadn't been ten minutes in the sun and surf when Jimin's attention was stolen from the magazine he'd been pouring over with his face plastered on the cover.  "Park Jimin: Behind the Curtain" it said in bold font just below a picture of him sitting on a beach in Busan, his hometown.  It had only been a week since he'd shot that cover and given an in-depth interview regarding his life and how he'd managed to never have a single scandal, especially of the dating variety, since becoming an idol nearly a decade prior.

The loss of attention to his own words and face splashed across eight pages of glossy magazine print came in the form of a muscled, tattooed man with a surf board and a lip ring that had Jimin's jaw dropping into the sand.

"Wow," he softly gasped out, lowering his sunglasses to survey the handsome man.  It occurred to him that he appeared to also be Korean.

The man shook the water from his dark hair and grinned in a way that knocked the breath from Jimin's lungs.  He slapped the man next to him across the back, almost knocking him down.  The surfer's companion just laughed and dramatically fell into the foamy tide while they both cackled loudly.

Jimin shook the goofy smile off his face and aimlessly slapped Yoongi's arm.  His personal assistant grumbled and swatted his hand away as he attempted to doze under a cover of Music Weekly.  How Min Yoongi had decided to be his personal assistant instead of a producer like he dreamed of being was beyond Jimin, but he was eternally grateful that he had...except when he was trying to gossip and Yoongi wouldn't allow it.

"Yoongi!  Look at this guy.  He's so damn hot," Jimin gushed to his friend who continued to ignore him.  Jimin glanced over to see that he had genuinely fallen asleep.  "Dammit...I knew I should've brought Hobi-hyung instead," he shook Yoongi's shoulders to no avail.  "Next time I'm bringing your husband and you can stay home and sleep."

"Sounds like a dream come true," Yoongi growled as he rolled onto his side, back facing an irritated Jimin.

The tattooed man seemed to sense Jimin's eyes on him.  He searched the beach until he spotted Jimin and quirked an eyebrow in his direction, offering him a cheeky smirk.  He made his way over with his surf board in tow.

"It's rude to stare, you know," he chuckled out, and Jimin thought he would melt right into the sand.  Though, he wasn't sure if it was because of his voice or the embarrassment of being caught red handed.  "You should at least know someone's name if you're going to stare a hole into them.  Jeon Jungkook."

"P-Park Jimin," he stuttered out, cheeks flaming.  "I didn't mean to stare.  I just saw you had a surf board.  I've always wanted to learn.  It looks so fun."

Nice save, Jimin, he complimented himself mentally, perhaps grinning a bit too proudly.  Jungkook seemed to buy it though, and stood his board up to show it off.

Jungkook eyed him up and down as Jimin's skin heated up under his gaze.  "Maybe I could teach you sometime," he winked.  "Got a pen?"

Jimin smacked Yoongi who groaned and handed over a pen without moving the magazine off his face.  Handing it to Jungkook, Jimin smiled sweetly and offered the back of his magazine to write on, careful to hide the pictures of his own face as he did.

"There," Jungkook handed it back after scribbling something down.  "Give me a call sometime.  I'll be happy to teach you...anything you wanna know."  He grinned and winked again before shouting at his friend who was making sand angels to come on.

Jimin watched Jungkook walk away with his friend, thoroughly enjoying the view before turning to Yoongi and slapping his shoulder excitedly.  "I just got a hottie's number!  Can you believe it?!"

Yoongi grunted and peeked out from under Music Weekly.  "And I'm supposed to care because...?"

Jimin rolled his eyes and huffed before looking at the numbers and the little winky face drawn onto the back of his magazine.  He smiled shyly and glanced back to find Jungkook gazing at him still from the parking lot as he waited for his friend to unlock his car.

It was just the kind of thing Jimin had always dreamed of happening to him.  It felt like he was the star of a romance movie.  Maybe this break from the limelight was exactly what he needed after all.
