Things were growing awkward between them the longer they hid from the king who sought to take Jimin for himself.  All three months in the desert, seeking out the tomb had been bad enough for them as they each felt the attraction and tried to ignore it.  However, here, in the middle of their past lives, it was impossible to deny.

Not only were they themselves feeling the pull, their past lives were pushing them together as well.  Throughout the entirety of the week that they'd spent hiding and running, receiving sometimes kindness and occasionally betrayal from those they came across, both men felt the tug of fate and their own desires they'd tried to stuff down all this time.

"We can't keep running, doc.  This can't be what our past lives did," Jungkook insisted for the third time that day.

Jimin turned to him, frustrated as he scrunched his body up smaller in the crawl space, leaning against Jungkook's larger body.  "Well what is it exactly that you think we should do then?  Go die at the hands of the soldiers?  Or, I know!  I can hand myself over to the king who looks like my ex and let myself be used and abused in god only knows what ways while you get slaughtered in front of me, yeah?  Is that the new plan, then?"

"You're too smart to be this stupid, doc.  What happened to the dead dudes in the tomb?  You have to know their story, right?  I mean, we weren't searching for months to find that place just for you to not know anything about them, yeah?  So what did they do?  Because I'm pretty sure that should be our new plan.  It's got to be the only way out of all this."

They looked into each other's eyes, realization dawning in Jimin's as a blush spread across his cheeks.

"Umm...they supposedly sealed their bond the gods gifted them.  In the desert.  They stole away in the night and under the light of the full moon, intertwined their souls forever through an ancient ritual.  Then they faced the king and accepted their fate," Jimin answered quietly.

"Okay, great.  So we go to the desert and do this ritual," Jungkook replied, satisfied.

Jimin's blush spread down to his neck and tinted his ears red.  "Well, that's the thing.  The ritual involved them...um...losing something in the desert."

"Like, some sort of gem or what?"

He couldn't look at Jungkook as he shook his head and replied, "Their virginities.  They gave their hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to each other in the desert under the light of a full moon at dusk just before the sun had completely set.  That way Ra and Amun would both be present to witness the fruition of their soul match."

"But...but...the king?  And in the storage room, you said," Jungkook stuttered out, a light bulb going off that manifested in a smug grin.  "That wasn't Oracle Jimin that was ready to give it up to me in the storage room.  That was Dr. Park Jimin that was willing to-"

Jimin put a hand over his mouth.  "Shut up.  That...that...don't talk about that.  And as for the king, he never touched the Oracle because he knew that to soil an Oracle's body would rid them of their seer-sight power unless it was a soul match.  A soul match would merely tie that power to themselves forever and the Oracle would keep their power so long as they never betrayed their soulmate.  The king knew he wasn't the soul match for the Oracle.  As much as he coveted the Oracle's body, he never touched him because he knew it would result in him losing the power of seer-sight.  He wouldn't risk his own wealth and gain for physical pleasure.  The Oracle's gift was more important."

Jungkook licked Jimin's palm and chuckled as he pulled away in disgust.  "So what you're saying is...in order for us to get back to our time and end all this," he gestured vaguely, "we have to go into the desert at dusk when the moon is full and the sun hasn't fully set yet and you finally can get dicked down just like you've been wanting me to do this whole time, huh?"
