Jungkook watched the soup bubble and boil in the pot on the stove. He'd spent half an hour already cutting vegetables, searing meat, and making a broth. Now as he watched his handiwork come to completion, he couldn't help but think of the man in his bed suffering from a fever, an upset stomach, and a sore throat.
"He always works too hard. To the point that he literally can't keep going anymore. I hate when he does this," Jungkook complained to the soup as if it would agree with him.
Ladling out a hearty portion into a deep bowl, Jungkook walked the steaming tea and soup on a tray into his bedroom. A slender arm and a mop of black hair peaked out from the top of his comforter. Jungkook smiled softly to himself as he sat the tray down on the nightstand that did not belong to him.
"Jimin," he whispered in his Busan dialect, giving his husband a gentle shake of his shoulder, "Jimin, I made some soup. You need to eat. You've been asleep all day."
"What?" a voice croaked out under the blanket, muffled by one of his three overstuffed pillows.
"Soup. I made you some soup. And I...have something else to show you," Jungkook admitted, trying to contain his excitement.
The comforter shifted until the bare upper torso of Jungkook's husband was revealed and he made no attempt to hide his hungry gaze drinking in every inch. He shoved his phone into Jimin's face.
"Oh my god, Jungkook. It's too bright. What is this?" Jimin took a moment to let his eyes focus as he rubbed the sleep from them. "Jungkook...what is this?"
Jungkook was practically bouncing where he sat on the edge of the bed now, letting his excitement take over. "You did it! All by yourself! You did it! You're number one on the Billboard Hot 100! Remember when BTS did that for the first time and it was so record breaking, but you...you did it all by yourself!"
Jimin let his words sink in like an unbelievable dream as he took in his husband's proud expression and evident joy. "This is amazing! Is it really real?" Jimin could feel tears falling onto his cheeks as the reality of what he'd done settled in.
Jungkook nodded with a wide grin. "Yes! It's real and I'm so proud of you, baby!" He gave Jimin a kiss on his cheek and squeezed him tightly. He pulled away from him with a frown, quickly though.
"Your fever has gotten worse. Does your throat still hurt?"
Jimin nodded, "And my stomach feels like it's in knots."
Jungkook huffed and pointed at the tray on the nightstand. "You worked yourself too hard again. Eat the soup. Drink the tea. I'll make you a nice hot bath."
"Oh, please Jungkook. Please, I can't even move right now. I feel awful," Jimin whined, eyes scanning through the comment section. His smile fell. "These...these comments. They're...they're not all nice."
Jungkook ripped his phone from Jimin's hands. "So what? Who gives a shit about some assholes who can't appreciate you? I appreciate you and I'm making you eat and drink and take a bath whether you like it or not. I'm going to take care of you, my baby. I'm going to make sure you get better."
Jimin hummed in response and allowed Jungkook to sit the tray of food above his lap. Giggling softly, he opened his mouth as Jungkook blew steam from the first spoonful and gently stuck it between his waiting lips. "It's good. A little spicy, but it's good."
"The spice will help you with your throat and clear your sinuses. You'll thank me for that later. Drink your tea."
Jimin complied and sipped gingerly at the tea his husband had made. Satisfied, Jungkook went off to start his bath. The moment Jungkook was out of sight, Jimin unplugged his phone from the wall while spooning more of his soup into his mouth. He read comment after comment. Some filled with pride and love and support. Others saying that armies had manipulated the charts, that his voice was unstable on what had been his fifth performance in a three day period, that he didn't deserve his wins. The usual comments about how he was undeserving or ugly or fat and on and on until the soup began to turn his stomach and tears welled in his eyes.
Would he ever get used to hearing such things about himself? He knew he shouldn't be so sensitive to these types of comments and death threats after all these years, but he couldn't help it. When Jungkook returned, his smile turned sour as he looked the man he loved up and down.
"Why do you do this to yourself? People are awful sometimes and you're already sick. You don't need to add to it. Be proud of yourself, Jiminie. You did something truly historical and impressive. The people who can't see and appreciate that don't deserve you and are clearly jealous of what you have."
"And what's that?" Jimin asked, defeated by the hurtful comments.
"Me, of course!" Jungkook flirted with confidence. "And an amazing group, a ton of talent, a hard work ethic, and the most beautiful face and body that was ever seen."
Jimin snorted out a laugh, only to grip at his throat with a groan. "Ow."
"Alright, alright. Enough of all this, time to get in that bathtub, mister!" Jungkook moved the tray of half eaten food and gently picked Jimin up.
He helped Jimin out of his underwear, all he'd worn to bed once he'd gotten back from his last promotion and filming the day prior, and smiled when he hissed as he sank down into the water.
"Too hot?"
Jimin nodded, but seemed satisfied as he melted against the cool ceramic of the bathtub.
"Just like me then," Jungkook quipped to Jimin's amusement.
"Yup. Just like you," Jimin agreed with a sweet and loving smile. "Thank you, my baby. For...everything."
Jungkook leaned down to kiss Jimin's feverish forehead. "Of course. What is a best friend who is also your husband for?"
He petted Jimin's damp hair as he softly sang an unintelligible song, a melody Jimin knew, but couldn't quite place as he began to drift off again. Just as he was losing consciousness, Jimin heard words he recognized well.
So I can keep my word
To you, who saw me to be bigger than my tiny little self
Don't worry
By your side just stay yeah
Because we don't know what days await us
Though it's scary, though we're afraid
Never forget that we're together
I know that it's obvious, but
I'll deliver these words
So they're not taken lightly

A/N: This story was requested by @Chimchim_260304 and I hope it lived up to what they were wanting to see. I actually had planned to write a story pretty similar to this where Jimin was sick and Jungkook took care of him anyway, but I like this version better.
If you have a request, please let me know and I'll be happy to write it!
Until the next one, Lovely Armies!
