"You sure this is a good idea, doc?" Jungkook asked hesitantly. "I mean, the dead dudes definitely died in there."
Jimin nodded, not entirely sure, but trusting the vision he'd gotten as Jungkook had snoozed on his chest. "Yeah. They did. But us experiencing their deaths is the only way to get back to our time. That's what the vision showed anyway."
"And how reliable are these visions, exactly?"
"The Oracle and I feel more connected than before. I trust him, and I trust myself," Jimin replied confidently.
"Well then I trust you, doc," Jungkook smiled down at Jimin, squeezing his now-robe-wrapped shoulder.
Jimin smiled back shyly. They'd woken at some point in the night and couldn't resist a second roll in the sand before making their way back to the palace.
"Well...let's go watch ourselves die then, I guess," Jungkook hesitantly joked.
"Don't worry. We'll be fine," Jimin reassured him, still not entirely sure himself.
They walked into the palace, guards stiffening as they made their way through the halls, but otherwise leaving them to their own devices. They walked hand in hand on the way to the throne room...Jungkook's throne room where they found King Taehyung lounging in his golden throne.
"You have some nerve coming back here, Prince Jungkook," Taehyung spat as if 'prince' were a dirty word.
"To my own palace? You have some nerve sitting in the seat that belongs to me. Leave now and you leave alive," Jungkook said, no longer seeming like himself. "Fail to do so and I cannot guarantee your life."
Taehyung pointed at Jimin. "Not without what's mine, Prince. Give him back to me and I will go without a fight."
Jimin growled, "I'm not an object that you can barter and trade for! I'm a person! And it's already too late for that. I am tied to the prince beyond separation."
"You...you...you touched my Oracle?!" Taehyung screeched. "You defiled my property?!"
"I am not property!" Jimin shouted, taking a step forward, face fierce and livid.
"The gods chose me for him. We are fated. We are a soul match," Jungkook explained, trying to remain somewhat reasonable.
"The gods be damned! I don't care what they've chosen! He is mine!" Taehyung yelled, his deep voice echoing through the stone throne room. "Seize them!"
Jimin and Jungkook hadn't noticed the soldiers slowly surrounding them. They didn't even have the chance to fight before they were forced to their knees, arms held by guards on either side. Taehyung slid a gold and emerald dagger from a sheath at his hip.
"If I can't have him, no one will. I spoke with a sorcerer, prince. Not only will I take him from you in this life, I have taken him from you in every life hereafter. You will not meet in the afterlife. There is no future for either of you," Taehyung laughed, running a finger down the side of the blade.
He sauntered over to Jimin as Jungkook fought against his captors. Taehyung fisted a handful of Jimin's dark hair, drawing his head back and exposing his prominent Adam's apple and elegant throat. Jungkook's tears cascaded down his cheeks as he grappled with the guards who tried to hold him.
"No! Doc!" Jungkook's eyes betrayed his panic, much to Taehyung's immense enjoyment. "Jimin!"
Jimin chuckled. "Now you call me Jimin. Took me getting murdered for you to do it, but it's the thought that counts I guess. I...I love you, Jungkook."
