Jimin woke with too much nervous energy to take into a room full of wolves who would already be on edge. Something about the previous night's feast had planted an excitement in him that he couldn't calm down. His wolf was antsy.
He decided it would be best to let his wolf go for a run. He shifted into his thin, black wolf's frame and pranced through the cold December air into the snow. The joy he felt as the wind blew through his fur once he'd started running was unmatched. Jimin found himself running to the river, his favorite spot in all of his pack-lands.
At the river, however, he saw an unfamiliar wolf. A large and beautiful white wolf that smelled of fresh linens, sunshine, and bergamot. Jimin could feel his wolf shiver with anticipation. He hadn't expected Jungkook's wolf form to be white or to be so beautiful. He padded up next to him, the white wolf turning to greet him with surprise. It was a lot easier to hide their scents in their wolf form and Jungkook hadn't been actively searching for Jimin's scent.
Jimin bowed his head in greeting and Jungkook barked out a laugh and bowed back. The white wolf jerked his head toward the forest that led back to the village. Jimin yipped back and took off running first, the white wolf barking in protest behind him.
The smaller black wolf had never felt more alive than in that moment. He was outrunning the white alpha wolf and the wind was chilly as it blew through his fur. He howled with delight and sprinted toward where he'd left his clothing neatly piled at the edge of the village. When the white wolf caught up to him, he gestured his head toward the direction he began walking in, indicating he was going for his own clothing pile he'd stashed somewhere.
However, Jimin quickly shifted and hastily put his clothes on to follow the white wolf. The wolf didn't show any signs of discomfort or try to push him away so he continued on until the pile of clothes smelling like Jungkook were in sight. Jimin wasn't sure why he'd followed the white wolf here, but he stopped just a dozen feet shy of the pile and ran his fingers through the soft white fur at the base of the wolf's head. It almost purred in the way it leaned into his hand and hummed it's delight.
"I better go. I'll give you some privacy to change and get the meeting set up. I'm sure they're waiting on me," Jimin whispered aloud into the cold air of dawn.
The white wolf huffed and nudged his hand with his cold, wet nose, almost as if he was begging him to stay. Jimin blushed, but nodded as the wolf padded over to his clothing, looking back several times to ensure Jimin hadn't ran away yet.
Jungkook shifted from the white wolf to his human body, his back to Jimin, but in clear, full view of his true mate's eyes. His keen ears picked up on the soft gasp that escaped Jimin's plump lips as he saw Jungkook's bare back and bottom. Jungkook smirked and put on his clothes, turning to meet Jimin.
He offered Jimin his arm, which a stunned Jimin took out of instinct, eyes still wide and lips still parted in surprise.
"Let me walk you to the meeting," Jungkook said in a hushed tone, already walking toward the meeting hut.
At first, their joint entry with linked arms was met with surprise, then a knowing smirk all around. The rumor had already made the rounds that the two were true mates. Everyone could not only smell it, but see their connection as plain as day.
The meeting went well, Jungkook explaining that the trespassers were young wolves named Yeonjun, Soobin, and Beomgyu who were barely old enough to hunt in the first place. They had yet to learn the customs of pack life in their new roles and had been overly excited to begin their tasks. They had already been talked to by the Grand alpha and were now apologetic about their actions.
