Kim Taehyung was very happy in his relationship with his boyfriend, Jeon Jungkook.  They knew they weren't fated mates, but he also knew that Jungkook had promised to reject his mate if he ever met him.  They were going to be married soon and nothing at all could possibly go wrong for Kim Taehyung.

Park Jimin was seemingly very happy, likewise in his relationship with Min Yoongi.  Like the other couple, they both knew that they were not fated mates, but overall they were very happy together.  No one would have thought anything of it if they decided to marry each other one day.

None of them could have predicted the sequence of events that the string of fate had planned for them.  All their lives were turned upside down by a chance encounter in a coffee shop.

"I'll take two caramel lattes, one with no foam and one with whipped cream and foam," Jimin ordered.  Even though he was an omega, he'd never felt inferior and for the most part he was pretty confident in himself.

Jungkook, in line with the cash register next to him, was very sensitive, despite being an alpha.  A perfect compliment to Jimin's personality.  "I'll have two caramel lattes," he said, "one with whipped cream and foam and one with no foam and just some extra caramel sauce."

The baristas gave them their coffees, but each man noticed that they were not what they had ordered.

"Oh, no.  I'm so sorry.  You and another gentleman ordered similar coffees," the barista apologized to Jungkook.  The omega trembling in the presence of an alpha.

"Not to worry.  No harm done.  Where is he and I'll just switch them with him?" Jungkook asked kindly.

The barista pointed to Jimin who was almost to the counter himself.  The moment their eyes locked, the string of fate between them snapped into place, alerting them to their fated bond.  Jimin didn't feel it as the coffees slipped from his grip and Jungkook barely felt himself move as he instinctively protected Jimin by catching the hot coffees before they spilled on Jimin's porcelain skin.

"I-I-I think these are mine.  I have yours," Jungkook finally spoke, his words coming out soft and gentle.

"T-thank you," Jimin responded breathlessly, taking his cups from Jungkook.

Despite their connection, the two tore themselves away, only letting themselves glance back at their fated mate once or twice before going on their way.  When Jungkook returned home with his and Taehyung's coffee, he couldn't let what happened go by without informing his boyfriend.

"So...I met him today," Jungkook admitted hesitantly.  Any talk of Jungkook's fated mate or when Jungkook would ask Taehyung what he would do about his own always made his boyfriend angry.

"Met who?" Taehyung asked, barely paying attention.

"Him.  My fated mate," Jungkook quietly replied.

Taehyung froze mid fold of a t-shirt.  He turned a livid gaze in Jungkook's direction.  "...And?  What did you do about it?"

"Nothing.  We accidentally got each other's coffee orders and we just swapped the cups and left the shop," Jungkook answered, praying that his boyfriend wouldn't blow it out of proportion.

Taehyung immediately blew it out of proportion.  "You fucked him, didn't you!  What coffee shop?  Is it our shop?  You're never allowed to go back there!"

Jungkook flinched at the accusations of his omega boyfriend.  "No!  Nothing happened beyond switching our cups!  I swear!  And why would I stop going to that shop simply because he was there!"

"Because you'll see him again and he'll steal you away!  He's probably some desperate slut ready to use his fated connection to get your money and take my boyfriend!" Taehyung screeched.
