Jungkook huffed as he sat the last box down heavily and flopped onto the floor in full starfish. Jimin giggled as he sat next to him and patted his stomach.
"It's done now. That was the last one," Jimin assured him as he rubbed his chest.
"What did you have in that thing?" Jungkook grumbled, out of breath, "it felt like it weighed a ton!"
He glanced over to see 'skincare products' written across the side of the box. Chuckling, Jungkook shook his head. "You're unbelievable."
Jimin giggled again and smacked his chest where he'd been rubbing it. "It's not that much! It's just heavy because of the glass bottles! Besides, you want me to be beautiful, right?"
Jungkook sat up on his elbows and frowned at Jimin. "You're beautiful no matter what. Even without your metric ton of beauty products."
With a shy smile, Jimin crossed the distance between them and pecked Jungkook's lips. Jungkook, however, was unwilling to let him stop at that. He gripped the back of his neck, refusing to let him move away, and deepened the kiss.
"Oh, gross! Get a room!"
The pair parted and looked up to see their friend group standing in the doorway with a few odds and ends that had been left in their cars. Each had an expression of both playful disgust and sappy joy over seeing their friends so happy.
"Um, excuse you," Jungkook began, dragging Jimin into his lap. "We have an entire house. Which we're in, by the way. So I can kiss my fiance if I want." He gestured around the packed living room.
"Whatever," Taehyung waved off.
They ordered a smorgasbord of food from a variety of restaurants and found themselves shoveling in pizza and Chinese food between tteokbokki and enchiladas. By the end of the night, everyone was so full that it hurt to move.
Jimin had long since fallen asleep across Jungkook's bloated stomach and Jungkook was drifting off himself as he ran his fingers through Jimin's hair.
When he'd joined Jimin in softly snoring on their new couch, Hoseok turned to Taehyung and whispered, "Did you ever dream that they'd actually wind up like this?" He pointed between their two friends.
Taehyung took a moment to observe his two best friends before nodding. "Yeah, I did. Those two were made for each other. They went through so much to get to this point. I'm really happy for them. They deserve this kind of happiness."
"Well, I didn't think it would ever happen," Jin admitted sheepishly. "Those two hated each other when they first met, remember? And then, even when they liked each other, they were so hesitant to just say it! It was so frustrating!"
Yoongi nodded his agreement. "Yeah, but I still shipped it from day one. No one shipped them harder than me."
Taehyung shot him a deadly glare. "Um, excuse me, but all I heard were lies. No one shipped them harder than me."
With a quiet laugh, Hoseok shook his head. "You're both wrong. No one shipped them harder than Jungkook."
Here, everyone had to begrudgingly agree. Even when Jimin had been scared of what their families would say, what the world would say, Jungkook had persisted. He had never, not even once, given up on Jimin. He'd been so persistent, in fact, that Jimin had melted under the amount of love Jungkook had shown him and couldn't resist him a moment more. Ever since then, they'd been inseparable.
"Jimin was just scared," Taehyung defended his soulmate. "Remember that guy in college who had called Jimin gay before he was out and threatened to beat him up if he didn't 'man up'? That really messed with him and when Jungkook kept pushing, I thought Jimin would cut him out completely. Fortunately, Yoongi was there to talk some sense into him."
Yoongi preened at the praise. "All I did was remind Jimin what his life would be like without the guy he's madly in love with being around all the time. I just told him to picture someone else getting all of Jungkook's attention the way Jimin did."
"That was more than enough to make him realize that Jungkook might not wait forever and that he needed to make his move," Namjoon recollected. "I remember him asking me for advice on how to show Jungkook that he loved him back."
"Ah, yeah! I remember that! That was when Jimin set up that whole beach confession date! That was so cute," Hoseok squealed, covering his mouth as Jimin stirred where he laid on Jungkook's stomach.
The five friends quietly watched the couple, but went back to their soft conversation when neither of them moved any further.
"Remember when Jimin thought Jungkook had cheated on him and we had to prove to him that Jungkook didn't?" Jin asked.
The other four groaned and nodded. "Yeah, unfortunately I still remember that. Still not sure what I did to make Jimin think I had gotten with Jungkook," Namjoon muttered. "That was the worst two weeks of my college career and I once got a 'B' on a calculus exam!"
Yoongi and Taehyung simultaneously rolled their eyes. "Oh no, Namjoon. Not a 'B'. How did you ever recover?" Yoongi asked, having heard the horror story of the dreaded 'B' five too many times.
"Well, after I told my par-"
Yoongi held his fingers over Namjoon's lips, smashing them to the side. "If you tell me this story one more time, Kim Namjoon, I'm going to lobotomize you and you'll never get higher than a 'D' again; do you understand me?"
Namjoon nodded fiercely and didn't utter another syllable. Hoseok picked up the slack in conversation and recounted the story of their engagement. They all knew it, of course, having been a key part of it, but no one was opposed to hearing it again. Jungkook had been so romantic with it that there was no debate amongst the friends that he was by far the most thoughtful of them all.
"And then when Jimin started crying, I started crying too!" Hoseok concluded.
"We were all crying," Yoongi agreed. "Even me. I have to admit, the kid did good. He's growing up on us."
They all turned their gazes to the couple still snoozing away on the couch in their new house.
"Maybe we should clean up and go? Let them wake up to just each other, ya know?" Taehyung suggested.
Agreeing with silent nods and swiftly cleaning up the evidence of their indulgent dinner, the five friends smiled one last time at the sleeping soon-to-be husbands in the house they'd bought for their future and left.
"They'll make it, for sure," Taehyung announced.
Hoseok nodded. "Yeah. They're forever. End game. This is only the beginning."
