Monday
Jungkook stood in shock before his fiance. If he'd heard him right, Park Jimin, love of his life, and should-be future husband was breaking up with him. But he couldn't have heard him right because his Jimin would never do that. They'd been inseparable since he was thirteen.
"No."
"Jungkook, what do you mean, no?"
"I mean, no, we're not breaking up. I won't let you give up on us."
"You can't just say no and then we just don't break up. That's not how this works. I'm telling you that we're breaking up. We've been together in some way, either as friends or lovers, for nearly eight years! We need to figure out who we are apart."
Jungkook shook his head violently, gritting his teeth to hold back his tears of disbelief and hurt. "No, Jimin. I don't agree to that. We belong together and if I have to spend every day of every week, every minute, every hour, every second showing you just how devoted to you I am, I will. This isn't the end of us. It can't be."
Jimin started to cry and Jungkook's heart shattered. He looked up at him with those hooded brown eyes and plump lips in a pout as tears streamed down his high cheekbones. "I hope you're right, but we'll never know if it's out of proximity or what we really want until we know who we are apart. It's the right thing to do, Jungkook."
Tuesday
Jungkook watched as Jimin pecked away at his phone, face falling into despair as he did, before sitting it aside and taking in a deep breath. He watched as Jimin plucked up the notebook he'd been carrying around the last month and scribbled furiously across the page. Jungkook wondered what he could possibly be writing all the time.
"Jimin," Jungkook tried as he sat next to him. Jimin hastily hid his notebook and wiped his cheeks.
"Hi," he said awkwardly, avoiding Jungkook's gaze.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why?" Those eyes didn't smile anymore and Jungkook missed the way they would nearly close because those apple cheeks would pull up when he grinned so wide.
"Well...you're crying. You know I hate to see you cry. I love you so much and I want you to be happy. I thought you were supposed to be happy when we broke up. Wasn't that what all this was about?"
Jimin just stared at him, fresh tears trickling down his flushed cheeks. "No. It was about dealing some mental health issues and discovering who we are individually. It was about becoming stronger in ourselves so we're not so co-dependent."
"I like being co-dependent with you. You act like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders, Jimin. Why are you so sad? You have a great life."
Jimin sighed. "I don't think that's how depression works, Jungkook. You don't have some explainable reason why you're sad."
Jungkook sat back and really surveyed Jimin closely for the first time in a while. "You look exhausted. Have you been overworking yourself again? Have you eaten? Here, let me help you."
He moved behind him as Jimin protested and began to massage his shoulders. Jimin's protests died in his throat and a soft moan gasped out of his lips instead. That sound did things to Jungkook he didn't want to admit. He could tell Jimin was not in a good headspace. Now was not the time.
Wednesday
"Jimin!"
His former fiance turned to look at him and narrowed his eyes, confusion scrunching up his face. "What are you doing here, Jungkook? We don't have a schedule today. This is extra practice for just me."
