So far, Jimin's new job as bodyguard to Jeon Jungkook, international pop sensation, had been an absolute cakewalk.  He'd all but moved into the west wing of the idol's penthouse overlooking the heart of the city of Seoul.  He'd spent each day going from promotions to practices to recording studios to appearances with him.  He'd gone to an endless number of cafes and bakeries and restaurants with the idol, to the point that Jimin was convinced the man didn't know how to cook for himself.  And through it all, Park Jimin did absolutely nothing.

He stood.  He watched.  He surveyed the area.  He waited...yet nothing ever seemed to happen to the man when he was by his side.  Jimin was beginning to think that it might have all been a publicity stunt, hiring him.  The money was too good to complain, but there seemed to be no real apparent danger to the singer, until one night when everything changed for them.

Jimin huffed, annoyed that he couldn't end his long day of walking by soaking in one of Jungkook's unreasonably large jet-tubs and, instead, had to follow him to the gym.

"You can work out with me, you know," Jungkook casually offered, hoping he didn't sound as eager to watch Jimin work out as he was.  "If you're going to be my bodyguard, it's probably for the best that you stay in shape."

Rolling his eyes, Jimin scoffed, "I get up every morning at 4 am to do a workout before you even wake up, pretty boy.  I stay plenty in shape.  Is this just a ploy for you to see my abs again?  Did you like it that much?" Jimin teasingly flirted.

Jungkook flushed pink and stuttered, "Sh-shut up."

Jimin chuckled under his breath a moment before his eyes caught a flicker of a movement in the dark streets of Seoul.  He gripped Jungkook's bicep and pulled him closer to him as he scanned the streets for any further signs of movement.

"Wh-what are you do-"

He was cut off by Jimin shushing him quietly as he tugged him behind his body.  Jimin stood on high alert and Jungkook shivered when the hair on the back of his neck stood up.  Understanding now, he latched his hands onto Jimin's shoulders.  A small woman and a large man stepped out from the shadows of a nearby alley.

"Told you that bodyguard on the news was a shrimp in real life.  I can definitely take him, Min-ha.  You just do what you gotta do to get your Jungkookie.  Big brother will take care of the spare," the man rumbled out in a deep voice, cracking his knuckles as he stared intently at Jimin.

The girl, Min-ha apparently, grinned wide and removed a syringe filled with a milky white liquid from the clutch slung across her chest.  Jungkook made a strangled noise into Jimin's ear as he buried his face in the back of his neck.

Jimin pushed Jungkook back screaming for him to run as the large man charged at them.  Jungkook couldn't move, though.  He stared in horror, rooted to the spot, as the man's massive fist connect with Jimin's perfectly sculpted jawline.  Jimin grunted and wiped the blood from his now-busted lip.

"Go, Jungkook!  Get out of here!  Leave!" Jimin continued to scream as he fought with the man, quickly getting him in a headlock that had him tapping at Jimin's arm.  Before long, his eyes had fluttered closed and he slumped forward in Jimin's hold.

Grinning wide, he turned victoriously to Jungkook, "See, I'm strong enough to protect you.  And you thought I-"

His smug smile fell the second his eyes locked with Jungkook's terrified expression.  It was too late.  Min-ha had injected Jungkook with the mysterious concoction and his eyes began to fade and roll to the back of his head.  The small girl grinned and laughed in broken hysteria.

"I did it!  I finally did it!  Jungkookie is mine!" She cackled, not realizing her brother had failed to incapacitate Jimin.

"You haven't gotten him yet, psycho," Jimin hissed behind her in a dark and gruff voice.

She spun on her heels, wide-eyed, to find Jimin hovering over her.  With one quick motion, he dug his two fingers into a pressure point at the base of her neck.  She gasped out a choked noise and fell to the ground.  Jimin slid his phone from his pocket and dialed up the police and an ambulance before turning his sights to Jungkook.

Luckily, he was still breathing.  Jimin pulled him into his arms and held him across his lap until the authorities arrived.  While he waited, he stroked Jungkook's hair and rubbed his chest.  "I'm sorry, Jungkook.  You shouldn't have had to go through this.  I got too comfortable when nothing had happened.  I should've always kept a closer eye out.  And you, I'm so mad at you.  You should've run when I told you to run!"

Tears streamed down Jimin's face.  He felt like a failure.  No one had ever gotten this close to his clients before.  No one had ever had the chance to nearly take his clients before.  He'd been too careless.  The guilt and burning fear for Jungkook's safety made him vow to be more careful with him in the future.  He didn't want to admit it, but after only just a month, he was already feeling too attached to Jungkook and he wasn't sure what he would do if something happened to him that he couldn't protect him from.

He wondered briefly if he was maybe too close to Jungkook.  If maybe he should step back and let another, less invested bodyguard take his place.  Selfishly, though, he couldn't.  He wanted to take care of Jungkook.  He didn't trust anyone to care for him the way he did, and that scared Jimin a little.

"I'm sorry.  I'm so sorry.  I'm so, so sorry.  Please forgive me," Jimin sobbed until the police had handcuffed and taken the would-be kidnappers away and the EMTs were laying Jungkook flat to examine him.

The woman, Kae-Ji according to her badge, plucked up the syringe that Min-ha had abandoned.  She studied the liquid inside for a moment before coming to a conclusion.

"Everything's going to be okay," Kae-Ji assured Jimin, patting his arm.  "This is Propofol.  It's an anesthetic medication often used in surgeries to make people go to sleep.  It's completely reversible and rarely has any major side affects.  I'll administer Physostigmine now to reverse it's affects.  He'll be awake in no time.  I still think it's a good idea to let us take him to the hospital to examine him further to make sure the Propofol wasn't laced with any other drugs and monitor him for any allergic reactions."

Jimin nodded, "Okay.  Yeah, of course.  I'm going with him, though."

Kae-Ji smiled at Jimin and patted his arm again.  "Of course, sir."

A/N: Alright, I kinda like this one so it's likely gonna be more than three parts.

As you may recall from the start of this short story collection, I trained in surgery and now have been working in trauma surgery for coming up on a year!  That surgery knowledge came in handy when I was writing how Min-ha would manage to attempt her kidnapping of Jungkook.  Propofol actually is the most commonly used anesthetic for fully asleep patients during a surgical procedure.  And it really is reversible with Physostigmine.  It brought me a weird joy to combine my love of surgery and my love of writing all into one!  :)  Thank you for letting me nerd out a little in this one.  Side note, Kae-Ji is a bit of a self-insert for me.  I am Kae-Ji.  Kae-Ji is me.  No, that's not my real name, but she does still represent me.  :)

See you in part three, Lovely ARMY's!
