Homesick Part II

Jungkook hated this.  He hated knowing that it wasn't just him that felt this way.  Sure, he knew armies loved Jimin and he was the bias of so many, but that was different.  With armies, Jungkook could share, but with someone closer to home?  Never.

Earlier that day he'd accidentally overheard a conversation between two of his hyungs.  Hobi and Yoongi had been sequestered together speaking in hushed tones, and Jungkook had nearly walked in on them but had stopped dead in his tracks when he'd heard the topic of conversation.  Jimin.  His Jimin.  Except, he might not be his Jimin if he continued to keep what he was feeling to himself.  Jimin had been distancing himself lately and had been ignoring Jungkook more and more.  It pained him to think that maybe Jimin had given up on him.

Since his debut, Jungkook had fallen in love with Jimin, but now...well, he knew his hyung had a soft spot for Jimin, but he didn't realize he wasn't the only one who had fallen for him.  Jungkook continued to mull over Yoongi's words and Hobi's response.

"I know it's kind of weird to say I might love a dude, but Hobi, I think I might actually love Jimin.  I don't know what to do, but I can't keep it to myself anymore."

"Well, Jimin's pretty clearly into guys, I think, given how open he is about his feelings towards Jungkook."

Yoongi actually growled then.  "That's another thing.  He's clearly into someone else, even if it's pretty obvious that Jungkook doesn't feel the same way back."

Hobi, who shared a room with Jimin, seemed to think differently given the amount of times he'd awoken to catch the two cuddled into each other.  "I don't know, Yoongi-hyung.  I can't guarantee Jungkook doesn't like him back.  Either way, I think you'll never know unless you tell him how you feel."

It almost felt like Hobi had been talking to Jungkook too.  He couldn't let his Yoongi-hyung confess to Jimin first.  Jungkook just knew that if he did, he wouldn't stand a chance in hell.  Why would Jimin choose Jungkook over his talented, handsome, bolder, and more experienced hyung?

He'd convinced himself to just get it over with and tell him.  Jungkook would be 18 years old soon and would be treated like a man.  It was time he did the same to himself.

Jungkook searched all over for Jimin, finally finding him just as his world came crashing down around him.  There, around the corner, stood Yoongi speaking quietly to a perturbed Jimin.

"Anyway.  That's all I wanted to say, Jimin.  I like you a lot.  As more than friends.  I think I even love you.  I want to try dating you if that's something you want.  If it isn't, I completely understand," Yoongi bravely confessed, despite the shaking of his hands.

Jimin bit that plump lip of his and pouted, brows scrunched in concern.  "I...I don't know what to say, Yoongi-hyung.  I have never really thought of you that way before.  I think...I think I need some time to process what you've just told me.  I'm sure you've...noticed...that I do like guys as well as girls, but..."

"But you like Jungkook, not me, right?"

Jimin nodded and Jungkook felt his heart soar and then drop at Yoongi's response.  "But Jungkook has made it pretty clear that he doesn't like you back.  Why keep wasting your time on someone you know you can never have?  I promise I'll treat you how you deserve to be treated, Jimin.  Just...just think about it, okay?  If you think about it and you still don't want to be with me, I will respect that completely."

Jimin nodded again and sighed as he hugged himself.  He looked like he believed every word his hyung had told him.

Jungkook wanted to scream, But I do like you back!  Your time isn't wasted wanting me!  I am someone you can have!  I'll treat you like the king you are too! but he didn't.  Instead he remained silent and watched as one of his hyungs walked away and the other sat on the couch in deep thought.

He hated himself for not moving to Jimin's side at that moment, but something told him now wasn't the time.  Instead he found himself trudging to the kitchen to drown himself in overly indulgent ice cream.

When night came, a soft knock sounded on his door.  Jungkook opened it to find none other than Park Jimin himself standing in the doorway, looking more rattled than he'd ever seen him.

"Jimin, what's wrong?!" Jungkook whisper shouted, but Jimin didn't say a word.  Instead, he crawled under Jungkook's covers and patted the bed next to him.

Jungkook curled against his chest and listened to the raging of Jimin's racing heart, terrified and unsure what to do.  Had someone hurt him?  Had he accepted Yoongi and knew this was his last time to hold Jungkook like this?

A thousand unpleasant thoughts swirled through Jungkook's mind as he waited on his favorite hyung to speak his fears into existence.

"I'm probably an idiot, Jungkook," he finally said with a sigh.

Now trembling in Jimin's arms, Jungkook squeaked out, "Why is that, Jimin-hyung?"

"I just...did something I probably shouldn't have is all.  Its...its nothing though.  Don't worry about it.  It will be for the best in the long run I think," Jimin admitted sadly.

"I love you," Jungkook accidentally blurted out as fears of what Jimin could mean surfaced.  He'd just convinced himself that Jimin had just accepted Yoongi and that he no longer had a moment to lose.

Jimin seemed to turn to stone under him.  He didn't move for a solid 47 seconds.  Jungkook counted every single one with painstaking care.

"I love you too, Jungkook.  Busan bros for life, remember?" Jimin said as he finally loosened his stance.

Jungkook steeled himself.  He had already gone this far and was now determined to see it through.  He shook his head against Jimin's chest.  "No.  You don't get it.  I'm in love with you, Jimin-hyung.  I have been for a long time and it's been very hard for me to understand it.  I wasn't sure what the things I felt meant or whether you felt the same.  You joked and teased, but I didn't know if it meant what I thought it did.  I wasn't sure-"

"Jungkook.  You're rambling.  Are you nervous?" Jimin cut him off with a flirtatious tease.  "Do you really mean it?  Are you actually in love with me, Jungkook?"

For a moment, Jungkook considered saying no.  That it had all been a joke, because his heart thumped wildly in his chest and he was afraid that he was about to be rejected.  Instead, he nodded his head, hiding his burning cheeks further into Jimin's embrace.

"I mean it," he confirmed in a muffled voice.

"Well then.  It's probably a good thing I did what I did earlier after all."

Jungkook looked up at him then.  "What did you do?"

"Did you know this was the second time today that someone told me they were in love with me?" Jimin asked.

Nodding sheepishly, Jungkook glanced away from Jimin's curious smirk.  "Ah, did you overhear Yoongi-hyung and I earlier then?"

Jungkook once again found himself nodding.

"Then you know the not-so-stupid thing I did then."

Fear gripped Jungkook once again.  "I hope I don't."

Jimin actually laughed then, squeezing Jungkook tightly into him and kissing the top of his head.  "I turned him down, Jungkookie.  I turned him down because I couldn't quite get over you."

At that, Jungkook's head shot up as he stared in awe at his grinning hyung.  "Can...can I ask you something then?"

Jimin nodded.  "Ask away."

"Do you...want to be my...boyfriend?"

Jimin chuckled and kissed Jungkook's cheek.  "I would love nothing more."
