dina's pov:talia offered to take me out later today, just to give my mind a break from everything that's went on recently.
i didn't want to go but i did, now i'm sitting outside of cvs waiting for her to come back with our snacks.
finally, i saw the automatic doors slide open. with a smile she ran back, both hands with bags filled to the top with snacks and drinks.
"i got your favorites." talia smiled as she lowered herself into the driver's seat.
all i could really do was smile, god i love her.
i don't know what i'd do if i didn't have her, honestly. i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for talia.
"can we go home?" i ask, grabbing the small bag of hot fries from the top of the bag and ripping them open. "of course, but can i talk to you first?"
she turns the radio down before taking a deep breath, looking over at me.
"i know it's hard right now, but i just wanted to let you know i'm gonna be here for you until you're finally over it, alright? that's what sisters do."
all i did was smile before turning my head to stare at the cars on the highway.
i understand she wants to 'be there for me' or whatever, but why? ever since ellie's death all i've done was push her away from me.
she's always been the forgiving type.
"where you wanna go?" talia turn and asks, and i shrug. "anywhere, i don't care."
without word she backs out of the parking lot, down the road and to the highway.
we arrived at an unfamiliar street, i'm assuming one of her friends lives here. after awhile i saw the door open. it was abby.
"about time you got here," she chuckles, lowering herself into the backseat and manspreading.
she hummed, locking the door after it was closed. "i had things to do, impatient ass." she jokes.
"sure you did."
they went back and forth for awhile, i couldn't really tell if they were joking or not. not that i really cared at all, but the yelling and scream laughter was making my ears ring like hell.
we finally made it back home, talia grabbing the bags for me as i made my way inside.
"where were you guys?" my mom greets me at the front door as she switches on the porch light. "talia took me out." was all i said going back upstairs.
completely ignoring any conversation happening downstairs i shut my bedroom door behind me, throwing myself onto my bed.
i slowly drifted off to sleep, the sound of the rain pounding on my roof and the laughter of abby and dina broke the silence as i tossed and turned.
suddenly, there was a knock at my door. "who is it?" i call from my bed, sitting up. "it's your mother, open up. got something for you."
with a sigh i raised an eyebrow, getting up to let her in before laying back down.
"ellie's mom dropped this off, they were gonna keep it but your name was on it so, here." she smiles before handing me a medium-ish sized box.
"thanks?" i question as she leaves the room, of course leaving the door wide open. "the hell is this?" i say to myself, hesitating before opening it.
immedietely after opening it i saw fur, a familiar color and texture. holding back tears i pulled the object out of the box.
it was bunny, the build a bear i got for ellie on our first 'date' or whatever. she still had it?
i brought the animal to my nose, taking in the scent. "oh, ellie." i whine as i snuggle my face into the plush. it smelled just like her.
i eventually fell asleep, the bunny in my arms as i cuddled it as if it really were ellie.
