ellie's pov:

i patiently waited for the waiter to come around with our orders, dina playing with the rings on my fingers.

"do you always do that?" i ask, taking my attention off of the busy street to look at her.

"only to you," she smiles.

the waiter finally came with our drinks, dina thanking her as she walked away.

"what's that?" dina asks, pointing to my concoction of a drink. "a coffee."

"no smartass, i mean what's in it?" she chuckles. "coffee beans." i joke.

she sighs playfully, grabbing the cup and basically stuffing her nose inside of it.

"ew, what the fuck is that?" she gags, pushing it away. "what, you don't like coffee?"

"when it smells like that, no." she laughs wiping her mouth with a napkin.

all i did was shrug, taking a sip of my drink before looking back out of the window.

i could feel her staring at me the entire time.

"you're so pretty," she says quietly, pulling a strand of hair behind my ear. "you're talking?" i reply smiling.

i don't normally compliment her, mainly because i'm too nervous to but it wouldn't hurt to try.

"you're actually complimenting me?" she smiles, and i shrug. "maybe,"

i took one last sip from my drink, dina laughing as the whipped cream formed a mustache on my top lip.

"yeah, that's cute." she jokes pulling out her phone to snap a couple photos. "delete that," i reply shyly.

all she did was shake her head before using her sleeve to wipe my mouth.

"you ready to leave yet?" she asks and i nod, grabbing my things and throwing my cup away.

we walked hand in hand out the door, waving to my favorite barista as we left.

"come here," i say lightly grabbing her by the wrist, dragging her to my favorite spot.

a couple ways away was a small park, the pathway behind it lead to a beautiful lake.

i never really tell anyone about this place because of the intense amount of vandalism that happens in my area so it's rather clean.

the only people who ever come here are either old or little kids who want to use the playground.

"slow down, weirdo." dina giggles from behind me but i ignore, still dragging her through the grass. we finally arrived, climbing over the gates.

"are we even allowed in here?" dina asks hesitantly, looking around to make sure no one was with us. "it's fine, just follow me."

i finally let go of her arm, allowing her to freely follow behind me. "you're sure no one's here?"

"dina it's fine, we're alone." i chuckle, pushing through a couple bushes and trees to reveal a beautiful sunset amongst the shore of the beach.

"holy fuck," i heard dina say under her breath, the sunlight making her eyes shimmer. "see?" i smile.

climbing through the last couple of vines we sat along the beach, just where the water ends.

we didn't say much for a bit, just enjoying each other's presence as we sat side by side.

dina's pov:

"hey, el?" i look over at her as she plays in the sand. she finally looks up, making eye contact.

"y'know that one song by coldplay? i think it's called yellow or something."

her face immediately lit up, "that's my favorite song." she smiles.

"i know, that's why i brought it up."

i grabbed my phone, opening spotify and playing it at full volume.

i watched as she mouthed the lyrics, still looking down at the sand.

"you're my yellow," i admit, i only found out what that meant a couple weeks ago but i really like the meaning of it.

"what?" she chuckles.

"i said you're my yellow, that's all." i smile nervously while rubbing her back. "you're mine too."

something about that was so wholesome to me, i guess it's because she never really 'sweet talks' me.

she's been more loving than usual lately.

"i really like you, like a lot." i say under my breath, she somehow heard me and turned in my direction.

"why?" she chuckled.

"i've told you why, because you're unique." i heard her scoff. "sure, whatever."

"sure, whatever." i mock playfully.

"fuck you, ellie." my sister talia screamed as ellie beat us in monopoly once again.

"sucks to suck," she shrugs.

"your turn," she says rolling the dice to my end of the board. with a couple shakes i threw them down.

"three, really?" i sigh moving my token up three spots, immediately being put in jail. "bro,"

talia and ellie both laugh, switching to ellie's turn. "there, since you're so good."

she rolled the dice, rolling a ten. "take that, losers." she chuckles moving her token up the board.

now it's talia's turn, she snatched the dice from ellie slamming them onto the board.

"a fucking two? this is rigged." she sighs, throwing her arms up before moving her token.

"it's not rigged you're just bad." ellie giggles, handing me the dice. "what the fuck ever."

i couldn't help but laugh at their arguing, rolling the dice across the board. "fuck yeah," i shout, finally rolling a seven.

"about time," ellie remarked with a scoff, i gently push her shoulder.

"you're just mad that i've been winning the past four rounds. and you're stuck in jail."

i've never seen her get this competitive before, it's actually hilarious. "i guess i am, smartass."

with a giggle i moved my token, ellie flicking it across the board. "know what?" i stand up, "i'm done."

"don't be a loser, sit down." talia said pulling me by my sleeve. "yeah, loser. sit down." ellie pitched in.

"both of you can shut the fuck up."

i flipped the board, all of the pieces falling onto ellie. "i still won though." she chuckled.

"anyway, i got work tomorrow i'm out." talia said standing up, grabbing her phone. "bye ellie,"

"what about me?" i whined jokingly, only for talia to turn around, "you too, i guess."

with a slam she shut the door, me and ellie are now alone. "hey, can i ask you something?" i ask switching the song.

"i don't know, can you?"

"don't be a dick." i laugh taking a hit from my vape. "i'm waiting."

"my family and i are going to disney this weekend for my mom and dad's anniversary, i was wondering if you wanted to go with us?"

she smiled, shrugging. "what about arya?"

"i thought about it, but i'd rather have you there with me instead."

i heard her scoff as she grabbed the vape, taking a hit aswell. "fine," was all she said.

i pulled her in for a hug, kissing the top of her head as i did. "i'm so excited," i whisper into her ear.

"me too," was all she said smiling softly. "me too."

1,145 words.
