You broke me for nothing...

Chapter 29

Chris pov...

Her words are ringing in my head... How could 3 words have such an effect on me... I forgive you... 3 words... 3 words that hold so much emotion, so much power... She forgives me... I break down and start to sob uncontrollably... I just can't help it... It is just... overwhelming.

I dont know how much i longed for those words until i heard them... Kate cups my face with both hands making me look at her through my tears... "It is in the past... Clean slate... Okay...?" She whispers and i nod and she pulls me in a hug... I bury my face in her neck pulling her close but not too tight so she can't breathe again... "Thank you... You have no idea what that means to me..." I whisper, and she plants a kiss on my cheek... 

I feel butterflies in my stomach, and they are going crazy... We just lay there in silence... Cuddled into each other... The silence is comfortable... It is like a dream... A beautiful dream... I wish it would never end... If it is a dream, i never want to wake up... "I should thank you... You did not have to..." She whispers and i shake my head cutting her off... "No... You dont... And yes, i should..." I mumble and there falls another silence... 

She sighs... "What is wrong...?" I ask, scared that she has had enough... "Need to pee..." She mumbles but does not move... "You are not going?" I ask and she sighs... "Dont want to..." She mumbles and holds me tighter and cuddles into me more... "Go sweetheart... I will be here..." I say and she hums... She still does not move making me smile a little... But then she groans and finally pushes herself up... As she stands next to the couch, we look at each other and she smiles... 

"Movie day?" She asks blushing and i smile and nod sitting up again... "Sounds good... Any preference?" I ask... "Let me think about it..." She says before she walks off. I can't stop smiling... Movie Day was something we used to do often... It was not as much about the movies as it was about spending time together just the two of us cuddled up. Most of the times we barely paid any attention to the movies... We did not have a lot of money back then for stuff so that would be our dates... Watching movies with snacks and drinks... I loved it and i know she loved it to... God, Kate was right... It was a simpler time... 

I get up and decide to get some snacks. I see the cake on the counter and take our plates to the living room as we had not finished eating it... When i am back in the kitchen to get some other snacks Kate walks into the kitchen and i smiled... "Doritos still your favorite...?" I say holding up the bag and she nods... We grabbed the snacks and made our way to the living room... I walked to the hallway closet to grab some fuzzy blankets and got some more pillows... When i walked back in Kate had moved the couch making it into this big bed... "Is it okay? I thought it would be more comfortable..." She says and i nod smiling... "Of course..." I say smiling from ear to ear at the idea of being cuddled up and just relax... I love that she feels comfortable to do her thing... I love that she wants to watch a movie... I love that she seems to make progress and i am happy i put my foot down with Tara about taking Kate home with me... I dont know if she would have made the progress there, she had made here in the short amount of time...

"Dodger!" Kate calls out for him and i smile as she installs herself on the couch with the blankets and pillows... Dodger comes walking in and as soon as he sees what is going on he runs and jumps on the couch... He installs himself and i can't help but smile as i watch them both... "Is there room for one more?" I ask and she opens her blanket... I smile and slide in next to her... 

"So have you decided what you wanted to watch?" I ask and she nods... "Can we watch those crappy, sappy hallmark movies?" She asks and i chuckle... "Sure..." I say and put the TV on... We browse through the movies picking one out... I take a deep breath as Kate wraps herself around me pulling the blanket over us a little more... Dodger is lying beside her his head on her hip... I pat his head, and he wags his tail. He is content to, and once again i am just taking it all in... This is happiness... This is the life... God i hope that this is going to be my life forever... 

I know i have to brace myself... She is still vulnerable... I know it might not last... But i am going to treasure this... I want to remember this moment forever... Just lounging around being lazy... I love it... God i love her... I will do everything in my power to make her happy again... 

I watch her more than i watch the movie... I am playing with her hair as her head lays on my chest. Her hand lays on my stomach... "God this movie is so cringe... I love it..." She whispers and i chuckle... I feel a little sad when she sits up to get her piece of cake but seeing her eat while sitting with her legs crossed underneath her totally caught up in the movie makes it all okay... 

"What?" She asks as she caught me staring and i shake my head smiling... She takes a piece of the cake and holds it out in front of me as if she wants to feed me but just as i am about to take it she puts it in her own mouth smirking... I laugh and her smirk grows... "Joey doesn't share food..." She says and i laugh even harder as i get the friends' reference... "Oeh after this movie we do a friends marathon..." She says and i chuckle and nod... I would watch whatever she wants if it makes her smile like this... If it makes her forget her hurt for a little while... 

I grab my own piece of cake and eat it while Kate is cooing over Dodger. He loves the attention. He loves the love she gives him and i love watching it... He rolls on his back so she can give him belly scratches... But when i finish my cake and put my plate away she cuddles into me again. Dodger is a little offended and lets out a huff before snuggling up to her and going to sleep... 

After the movie is done, we put friends on, but we barely get through the first few episodes as we doze off... "I love lazy days..." Kate mumbles and soon we are both asleep again...
