Jessie was the most sweetest, caring and generous friend you had. It was very hard to not fall in love with someone like that. Especially if the two of you spent so much time together. Both playing for Canada and being in the same friend group back home meant the two of you spent a large amount of time together. Something you despised about jessie was that she was never straight forward with her emotions and feelings, which you can't expect everyone to be like that but it was very confusing. 

Jessie wasn't the only person you'd fallen for. The two of you had a mutual friend, jessie had actually introduced the two of you. Her name was Alex, she played football but not professionally. But she was still a very close friends of yours, she was very different from Jessie though. That kind of messed with you head when you realized you had a small crush on her. Alex was very independent, decisive and sociable. Quite the opposite of Jessie. 

Your love for jessie never died down, but you did find yourself being attracted to Alex. You liked how straight forward she was and how sure of herself she was. She was also very flirty as well, one night she did admit to being attracted to you as well. But the two of you never made the first move. It was way worse with jessie. Jessie wasn't really the type to tell you straight up how she feels, she was shy and you understood that. But it made you feel unwanted by her.

This was the last thing you wanted.

Jessie had brought you back home to her house, it was night time and you had been drinking. Jessie didn't want to risk anything happening to you so she took you home, she had an extra bedroom and she didn't mind having a roommate for one night. The friend group had been out the whole night having fun at the bar and drinking of course. 

You however had been feeling like shit the whole night, hence why you were drinking quite a lot. Jessie didn't like seeing you like this, especially not over a girl. 

"Why was she even with her..." you said plopping down on the bed as soon as jessie let you into the spare bedroom. "I don't know.." jessie shrugged walking over to you. "Can i get you water or anything?" jessie offered.

Your mind was too busy overthinking about alex though. Alex had brought some blond over to the hangout that was meant to be just for your friend group. Your mind was everywhere, you thought she liked you but her actions tonight said otherwise. 

"Do you think they're like dating?" you sat up on the edge of the bed and looked at jessie who was standing in front of you. "Why do you care? She didn't even deserve you." jessie said. Her words caught you off guard. 

"Well....you know i like her.." you reminded jessie. Jessie sighed and sat next to you on the bed. "Just stop talking about her." jessie said.

"What's your deal? Why do you care about my feelings towards alex.." you questioned jessie. 

"Fuck...i don't know y/n, maybe because i like you." jessie said. You didn't know how to react or what to say, you just blinked at your friend sitting next to you. "And i know you might not feel the same way, and frankly i don't care but i don't want to hear you talk all night about some girl who didn't deserve you in the slightest." jessie said.

"How do you know i don't feel the same way?" you said. 

"Well do you?" jessie raised an eyebrow.

"Yes." you sighed in relief. "Jessie, do you know how long i've been waiting for you to say this..." you scoffed. 

"Well...i didn't know how you'd react...but i'm glad you feel the same y/n." jessie smiled at you, her rosy cheeks getting redder by the second. 

"But.." you said looking down at your lap. "But what?" jessie said. "But i like alex...you know i do." you said, completely slapping the smile off of jessie's face. You heard jessie take a deep breath in. 

"Well, i didn't bring a girl out tonight."  jessie said calling alex out. "Jessie." you said.

"What do you even see in her..." jessie shook her head at you. 

"Jessie..i don't know i just like her...i like how she is as a person." you said. "Well i'm not gonna wait around for you forever y/n." jessie stood up from the bed. "What's that supposed to mean." you said standing up as well. 

"I'm saying make up your mind y/n." jessie said. "Make up my mind? Like what? Like if it's that easy?" you said raising your voice a bit. "You seriously can't make me choose between you two.." you lowered your tone. 

"So what? You're planning on dating both of us?" jessie scoffed folding her arms. "No, that's stupid...all i'm saying is, it's not easy and for you to ask me to do that.." you looked down at the ground not being able to look at jessie. "I don't know i just.." you shrugged. "You're my best friend jessie..." you looked up at jessie. Her eyes softened when she heard you say that. "I like you so much...and i've been waiting for you to say something or at least show me that you cared for me in that way...and while i was waiting alex came into the picture and moved things around." you admitted

"So you can't tell me that and think everything is gonna be easy.." you said. 

"Y/n i'm sorry okay...i shouldn't have made you choose like that, i just..i don't want you to be after some girl who doesn't give you the time of day.." jessie said. 

"Like you did?" you snapped. "You don't know how alex is with me..." you said. 

"I know she's not good for you." jessie tilted her head slightly at you. "If she liked you why would she bring a girl to the bar...she didn't even talk to you." jessie said walking over to you. 

"All i'm saying, is pick carefully." jessie leaned in and placed a small delicate kiss on your cheek. After that jessie walked out of the bedroom.

Few Weeks Later

You were now in the most perfect relationship you could have asked for, Jessie was the most amazing girl you could have asked for. Now you could kiss her and not feel guilty about anything, you could touch her arm and not feel awkward about it. You could go to sleep in the same bed and actually be intimate with each other, showing each other how much you loved one another in a different way. 

Every day off you had, she made it worth it and actually spent time with you. Taking you on small dates, they weren't big or expensive but that's what you loved about them. It was the small things that made you really happy to have picked jessie. 

Jessie was the perfect pick.
