It was international break meaning everyone went their separate ways and went back home. Y/n loved going back to play for england, she was young but she was gonna be starting. She was over the moon to be starting and representing her country. Leah on the other hand seemed to be even more excited for her.

"So how do you feel kiddo? It's gonna be your first time playing with us..." beth said to y/n. Y/n smiled and nodded. "I really feel excited i thought i'd feel nervous but i don't feel anxious right now.." y/n explained. 

"Don't worry, i think you're gonna feel it when we go out there...but you don't have to be nervous about anything you're gonna do great." georgia said. "Okay g i think your little pep talk might make her even more nervous." leah said smiling at g. They had just gotten done for the day, they were walking back. "Don't worry about it..." leah said pulling y/n closer to her. "I know you'll do great kid, alright?" leah said.

Y/n smiled and looked up at her. "Thank you leah...means a lot" 

"Of course." leah said.

It was match day, they had to play italy but it was only a friendly so leah and the rest of the girls weren't worried about y/n getting too feisty on the pitch with the opposite team. The match started off really good, lotte had scored in the first minute. Lauren had scored 2 goals already in the first half. 

It was the 42' minute where england got a corner, it was chloe who was going to kick the ball. Chloe walked over to the corner and everybody positioned themselves. Y/n was more up in the front and leah was in the back where she mostly always is. As soon as the whistle blew chloe's foot made contact with the ball, kicking it towards y/n. 

Y/n was pushed by one of the other players, the back of her head made contact with another player's head. Y/n fell to the ground, the other player laid right beside her. Leah rushed to y/n's side as angry as she felt seeing her go down like that, she wanted to make sure she was okay. Lucy ran to y/n as well, some of the other girls tried to get the player who pushed her, get sent off. 

Leah gently patted y/n's shoulder to get a response out of her, but y/n just held the back of her head not moving much. Lucy called over the medics and they rushed over, the stadium went quiet but not silent. Everyone had different things on their mind. The ref came to y/n's side to see what the problem was. Leah didn't leave her side. 

"Y/n..." leah said in a desperate tone. The medics tried to get her to talk, y/n was too focused on the pain on her head to even acknowledge either one of them. Leah looked up to see the other play stand up, perfectly fine. Not a scratch of blood on her, but leah knew better than to go and get in her face. Meanwhile y/n was on the ground barely responsive.

Leah looked as if she was about to cry or scream at the players, she couldn't bare the sight of y/n on the ground not moving much. Leah let the medics handle everything, they took her off in a stretcher. Leah walked back to sarina and the rest of the girls, it was gonna be hard to focus on the match after what just happened. It was close to halftime but they were still gonna add some more minutes. 

Leah drank some water while walking over to sarina.

"I can take you out halftime so you can go leah, i'll sub in Alex.." sarina reassured leah. "I'd appreciate that very much Sarina, thank you." leah nodded as she put her bottle down. "Of course." sarina answered.

Having sarina tell leah that she was gonna take her out halftime gave leah some sort of hope and relief. All leah wanted to do was go check up on y/n, she wanted to make sure she was at least conscious.

The whistle for halftime blew, leah ran over into the tunnel seeing the medics bring the stretcher back in. 

"Where is she?" leah asked one of the medics. "They just drove her to the nearest hospital..." she answered. "Can you send me the address?" leah asked, the medic nodded and sent her the address to her phone. Leah made her way to the changing room gathering her stuff, her heart racing and worry filled her face.

Meanwhile at the hospital, y/n was laying in a hospital bed. When she opened her eyes, she blinked and looked around. The nurse looked at her and smiled to see her awake. 

"Where am I?" y/n asked her. "You're at the hospital...i think you got hit a bit too hard today.." the nurse said. "Oh- wait- i have a match-" y/n tried getting up but the nurse gently laid her back down. "Don't worry about that...you need to rest right now." the nurse informed y/n.

"Where's-" 

They heard a knock at the door, y/n turned and saw leah walk in. Y/n and Leah both felt a rush of relief, seeing each other. Y/n didn't want to be here alone, leah was glad to see her at least awake. 

"Leah..." y/n looked at her. "Hey kid...i'm here..don't worry." leah walked to y/n's side. 

"I'll be right back, if something goes wrong call us." the nurse nodded at leah before walking out the room. "How are you feeling?" leah asked y/n laying in the hospital bed. "I'm- my head hurts like really bad..." y/n groaned and blinked a little.

"What happened?" y/n asked leah. "You went down- one of the players pushed you and you hit your head on the other player's head." leah explained.

"Wait- the match isn't over...why are you here?" y/n asked leah. "Sarina took me off halftime, italy scored during extra time...but i don't care about that i just wanted to make sure you were okay.." leah smiled and caressed y/n's arm.

"Well...someone always has to get injured." y/n said looking at the hospital bed. "Don't say that..." leah whispered. "It's kind of true but i hate that it had to be you..." leah said looking at y/n with worry in her eyes.

Y/n went silent and looked around, leah smiled at her and shook her head. A bit confused on what y/n was doing. Leah looked around as well and then looked back at y/n who seemed really confused. 

"Wait- who are you?" y/n looked at leah and pointed at her.

Leah's heart almost dropped, her face went blank and she looked around for the nurse. 

"I'm just kidding.." y/n smiled and covered her mouth with her hand.

"What are you trying to give me a heart attack or something?" leah placed her hand over her heart. "Shh...stop being dramatic." y/n smiled. "I'm fine.." y/n nodded and leah. "A bit hungry.." she smiled at leah.

"Okay, i'm gonna go get you something when the nurse comes back..what do you want?" leah offered. 

"Anything but peanut butter sandwiches..." y/n said. "Or oranges, or ketchup, or tomatoes-" y/n kept going.

"Picky.." leah scoffed.

"Learned from the best." y/n smiled at leah.
