𝐖𝐎𝐒𝐎 𝐗 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐓.𝟐

Do you not believe in me? (Caitlin Foord)

Alanna had came into the changing room, she made her way over to you. You had been sitting down changing your shin guards when she rushed over to you. She had a worried look on her face. The rest of the team were out on the pitch getting ready and warming up to go against China. 

"They need you- we need you.." alanna said quickly looking down at you. You were more than confused, you were about to go out any second you didn't see why she was so desperate. "For what?" you asked alanna. 

"Macca got hurt...something with her knee. Tony is asking for you..." alanna told you. A rush of anxiety filled your body, you were a goalkeeper. Obviously you weren't planning on actually playing because Macca is usually the one the be called up. Lydia had been out sick so you really were the only choice.

Although you didn't expect to play, you still warmed up with everyone just in case they needed you. It was that day.

"Do they need me to..." you stood up. "I'm not sure..." alanna shook her head. "Come on..." alanna said. You stood up and walked over to the door opening it, you saw Caitlin and Ellie helping Mackenzie over into the changing room. You held the door and looked at them sit her down, she was holding her knee that was bandaged up. 

"What happened?" you asked them, tony walked in and approached you. "She went down, we are still not sure what happened...medics are coming. I don't think she'll be able to play, you're going to have to take her place." tony told you. 

You swallowed the nerves and nodded. "Of course." you nodded. Tony nodded and walked out of the room. The medics came into the changing room and started talking to mackenzie, you looked at her in pain and couldn't help but feel bad for her. 

Mackenzie looked up at you as she was getting checked, she gave you a reassuring smile. "You've got this okay? I know you do.." mackenzie told you. You nodded and smiled. 

"Can we talk outside for a bit?.." caitlin asked you. "Uhm, yeah." you said walking out of the changing room, caitlin walked behind you as the door closed. "What is it?" you asked turning around to face caitlin.

Caitlin turned her head as alanna and ellie walked out of the changing room passing you, caitlin waited for them to be far enough to not hear before looking at you again. "I want to make sure...that you're not taking on something you're not ready for.." caitlin told you. "Um-" you got cut shortly. "If you're not ready, tell tony." caitlin said.

"I am ready." you told caitlin. "Y/n...i know this is new to you.." caitlin said hesitantly. "Do you not believe in me?" you asked her. 

You felt a bit hurt at the fact that caitlin might think you're not ready. She was your girlfriend, she was supposed to be there for you. Yes this was new to you, but you weren't an amateur. You got called up for a reason, they choose you for a reason. 

"No- That's not what i mean...y/n-" caitlin sighed. "I don't want you to be overwhelmed, It's your first time playing with us, i know that...but if you think you're ready, then go on for macca." caitlin held your hand. "I'll always believe in you, i want you to know that." caitlin smiled at you.

"Well, i appreciate you being worried for me...but i do think i'm ready. I don't want to let you guys down, thank you for believing in me.  I love you for that." you held her hand as well. "You know i love you too." caitlin smiled.
