It's okay to be different. (Leah Williamson)

A/N: This story is gonna take place in year 10, so the reader and leah will be pretty young. Also i used this photo cuz it is absolutely taking me out. 😭 The characters in this are completely made up, other than leah of course.

As far as you knew, you and leah were one of the few girls in your school that were interested in playing football. Both of you played for the Arsenal Football Club Academy. But that didn't mean you were the closest. You would think you were but leah always talked to different people when you would play, you would usually keep to yourself.

But for some reason both of you were in the same friend group. That shocked you because at arsenal you didn't have much friends, but the only friends you did have at school also liked talking with leah sometimes. Leah never had a specific group she associated herself with.

The group consisted of 5 girls apart from you and leah. Katherine, Ivy, Lily, Olivia and Sophia. The girl you would call your bestfriend out of them all was, Olivia. Both of you would hang out outside of school, and you felt like you could trust her the most. 

This certain day, Olivia had left school early for a doctor's appointment. Meaning you had to have lunch with the other 4 girls. "Katherine...can you scoot over a bit, leah's wants to have lunch with us" Ivy told katherine. Katherine scoot over to her right. Katherine was sitting right in front of you during lunch. Leah had walked over to you guys and sat right next to her, then ivy sat next to leah. Lily and Soophia were sitting right next to you.

"Hey leah.." lily said. 

"Hey girls, sorry usually i sat with Ava but she's out today..." leah said. You continued eating your food as they started to converse between them. You zoned them out half of the time, if olivia wasn't there. 

"Did you guys see James today?" katherine asked

"Who's that?" ivy asked

"The new guy, i call dibs." katherine said.

"Have you talked to him?" Lily asked. 

"No.." katherine said.  "Then you can't call dibs.." lily laughed. 

"Whatever..." katherine smiled. "I already got my eye on Josh.." Ivy said. "Yeah, yeah we get it the two of you are in love..." sophia rolled her eyes sarcastically. 

"What about you y/n?" Katherine asked you.

She snapped you right out of your thoughts, you looked at her and nodded. "What?" you asked.

"Who do you like?" katherine asked you. "Or find attractive.." ivy smiled at you. 

"Nobody really.." you said looking around at the guys. Nobody there caught your eye.

"Oh come on there has to be someone..." sophia said looking around as well.

"Have you seen the guys that go here? They look like they're some kind of experiment that went wrong..." you said looking down at your food, having lost all appetite. Leah had laughed at what you have said, she was the only one who did. You weren't the comedian of the group, but it caught your eye. 

"You know....you never really seem interested in any guy..." katherine pointed out. You shrugged and started to play with your food. "So?" you said.

"So...what are you like gay or something?" katherine said. You shot your eyes up at her and shook your head. "And if i was? Would that be a problem for you?" you said. 

"Well it's pretty weird.." katherine said. 

"Katherine." lily said sounding firm.

"You know what you're issue is katherine? You have your head up everyone else's ass that you're too distracted to realize why you don't have a boyfriend." you said gathering your trash onto your plate. "It's your attitude kat." you said before standing up and walking over to the trash. You threw it in the bin and walked out of the lunch room. 

You decided to walk to your next class, it was art class. The professor was really nice towards you, it was the only class you didn't hate. He always let you come in before school or when you had free time.

"Hi..." you said knocking on the door that was open. "Hello...isn't it your lunch time right now.." professor tucker said. "Yeah...my friends are being weird...annoying." you said. "Well come on in, you're always welcome here.." he smiled at you and motioned you to sit in one of the chairs. 

"Thank you." 

You spent a few minutes sitting there on your phone before your professor stood up. "Hey i have to go get some paper from another professor, i can trust you in here right?" he smiled. "Of course." you nodded. With that he walked out. A few seconds after he walked out someone else walked in. It was Leah. 

"Uh hi.." leah said walking over to you, she sat in the chair next to me.

"What are you doing here?" you asked leah turning to her. "I saw you walk off....wanted to make sure you're alright." leah said.

"I'm fine..." you said looking down at your desk. "It wasn't right....what she said.." leah said shaking her head. "I know..." you said nodding up at leah. "But i don't care, she's always been like that.." you said. 

"It's okay to be different." leah said smiling at you.

"I'm not even sure if i'm gay...i don't know why i got like that.." you said.

"But even if you were, i  wouldn't judge you." leah stated. "Good to know.." you said.

"Why do you never talk to me?" leah asked you. You shrugged. "I don't know...i don't really talk to anyone so don't take it personally." you smiled. "Oh.." leah smiled. "Well, i'd like to talk to you more now, we do play football together.." leah suggested.

"Yeah, and you don't seem....that bad." you said looking at her. 

"I'm glad you think that... i don't want you to have to put up with people like katherine.." leah smiled at you.
