Working in F1 meant you had to deal with a lot of stuff, as a woman. But you had pretty tough skin and you weren't gonna let some men drive you off. You loved working in F1, you loved traveling around to other countries, you loved the sport, you also loved the friends and connections you made along the way.
Here you were, at a F1 event. You had picked out your finest looking blazer. A grey one with a matching set of pants. You decided to wear a tight black long sleeve under it since it was a bit chilly. The event was mostly for people, drivers and sponsors to talk with each other, that's what you were there for. It was this huge building, it looked pretty fancy, something you had been used to by now.
"You know my daughter has a similar blazer to yours." the man said, two men had been trying to stir up a conversation with you. In all honesty, you were ready to go home. You. were invited by your team, if you wanted to come. You thought it was gonna be much funner than this, but it was just a bunch of old men talking about the sport.
"Oh really? That's....It is a good blazer." you nodded, you were unsure of what to say to that. It was pretty irrelevant.
"Yeah, if you don't mind me asking, what's a beautiful girl like you doing here?" the other guy asked you. They looked about 50, old enough to be someone's dad. Which they were.
"I was invited-" you said, but shortly after you were interrupted.
"Did you come looking for a husband?" the first guy asked, you shifted your attention towards him. You were used to it, you just wished you could throw that drink you were holding to his face. You awkwardly laughed and shook your head. "Trust me, you would've loved me when i was younger. I was a catch-"
"Excuse me." you heard an unfamiliar voice coming from behind you. You turned around to see a brunette standing there. She made eye contact with you and she sent you a smile. "Oh- Alexis..we haven't seen each other in so long." she told you with the biggest smile on her face.
"I know- oh my- you'll have to excuse me..." you turned to the men trying to excuse yourself.
"Of course." one of them nodded for you to go, that was enough for you.
You smiled and walked over to the brunette. "Hey, how have you been?" you said walking away with her.
"I've been doing...." she didn't finish off the sentence, instead she turned to look at the men. You didn't even dare to turn but you waited for her to say something.
"They're not looking anymore..." she whispered, she continued to walk you over to the bar area. You went with it.
In reality, you had no idea who this woman was, or who alexis was...that wasn't even your name.
"Thank you." you said leaning against the bar counter, she turned to smile at you. "Of course, you looked like you were struggling." she said. "I really was...i hate coming to these things..." you shook your head placing the empty glass on the counter.
"You do?" she raised an eyebrow. "Well, i love coming to these events when there's good people to talk to...not men that was here for the wrong reasons." you told her. She looked at the empty glass and nodded. "Let me buy you a drink..." she looked at you.
"I..." you shook your head a bit unsure.
"Come on, we have to make it seem like we know each other...are they looking?" she asked you. You slowly turned back to look at them, they were indeed still looking.
