It was a few hours after you had gotten back to the hotel with lauren, neither of you had said a single word the bus ride back to the hotel. You didn't really feel like saying anything, you were still in shock. You had just lost the world cup and you were going back to the hotel room, the bus was pretty quiet but people were still talking.
You and Lauren had gotten picked to room together, you obviously didn't mind at all. Once you walked back into the hotel room, you felt so shit about the whole day. You kept trying to think of all the times you could've prevented that goal. The goal that costed you the world cup.
Both of you had taken a shower separately and gotten into comfy clothes for the night, you laid in bed besides lauren. She was already laying down in her spot watching something on the tv. She turned to look at you and you gave her a small smile.
"Hey..." lauren sat up and looked down at you laying in bed. "Hi." you said
"You doing okay?" she asked quietly. "No, we just lost the world cup lauren..." you sighed and sat up looking at her. "Hey, come here..i didn't make to make you upset..." lauren patted the spot next to her. You scooted closer to her and sighed. "I'm not upset...just very let down...i thought we were gonna win i was hoping we would." you said.
Lauren sat there, listening to you.
"All the hard work we did, the girls...and you- especially you.." you kept going. "Darling, it'll be okay...we'll be alright..i know everyone is probably feeling shit right now, but football is unpredictable." lauren said. "All we can do is continue to get better and keep practicing so in four years we'll have the chance to win it." lauren caressed the side of your face as she smiled.
"I know...i'm just very disappointed.." you said. Lauren laid back down and you smiled laying down beside her on top of her arm. "We will feel that way for some time, until it decides to go away. But i don't like seeing you upset.." lauren looked at you. "I'm not upset right now." you said blinking up at her. "Why's that?" lauren furrowed her eyebrows.
"Because i'm with you." you said looking into her dark brown eyes. Lauren smiled at you and leaned in to place a kiss on you forehead. "I promise tomorrow we can do whatever you want..anything to make my girl feel happy again." lauren said.
"Promise?" you raised your eyebrows. "Promise." lauren reassured you.
