Being a firefighter was always your dream, you knew what would come with that though. You were putting your life on the line to save other people, you loved helping people. But that didn't mean you never thought of finding another career. 

You had a girlfriend, Claudia, there was a specific conversation that really opened your eyes. Claudia had brought up how she wasn't 100% happy that you were a firefighter, obviously she knew before you started dating but she had expressed how worried she is all the time. You heard her out and agreed that there is always something to worry about, but you explained to her, this is what you want. She knew and understood what she was signing herself up for.

Just how she can get easily injured playing football, you accepted it's her passion and what she loves. 

After a few years, you understood what claudia meant by 'worry' when things took a turn for the worst.

You heard a knock at the door, you opened your eyes and turned your head to see. You weren't asleep, you were just resting, it's what the doctor wanted you to do. You looked over at the couch besides your hospital bed, your 2 yr old daughter was sleeping peacefully. 

You looked back at the door opening, claudia walked in. She had gotten you breakfast from the cafe across the hospital. You smiled at her, she walked in shutting the door carefully.

"She's still sleeping?" she asked. You nodded your head, she walked over to the couch on the other side of the bed and sat down. "How are you feeling?.." she whispered. "I'm good, much better now." you said.

You had barely made it out of the fire, it was one of the closest calls you've had. The worst probably, this was one of those moments where you rethink about your life choices. Now that you had a daughter, everything revolved around her. It made you think clearly if you wanted to keep going with this job...

It was a scary feeling.

"You don't know how scared i was when i got the call..." claudia looked at you, a frown on her face. "I know, it must've been terrifying...i'm sorry.." you looked at her. "Don't be sorry, don't worry about that i'm just glad you're feeling better. And that you're safe." claudia stood up and caressed your cheek with her thumb. 

"I, uh...I don't know if this is the right time but the girls wanted to come over...they wanted to see how you were..." claudia told you. "But i told them i'd ask you when i saw you again, i wanted to make sure it was okay with you first." claudia shook her head.

"Of course they can come visit, visiting hours aren't till 9 am though.." you said, it was quite early in the morning. You didn't mind if they paid a small visit, after all seeing them sounded like a good idea. You wanted to be around loved ones...for some reason.

"Uhm..." claudia looked at emilia sleeping on the couch. It was big enough to hold her little body, it was like a bed for her basically. You looked up at claudia and shrugged. "What are we gonna do about emi...they don't know." claudia reminded you.

Claudia and you wanted to start a family, you had been together for years and you wanted to take the next step. Since you were both so busy, with claudia being a professional and successful football player and you being a firefighter. It wasn't gonna be easy. You two had a long conversation about this, you agreed on giving adoption a shot. Obviously you wanted to carry your child at some point, but you two were young and there was plenty of time for that in the future.
