You've had the biggest crush on your best friend aggie, you both played football since you were kids and along the way you developed some other feelings for her. You never thought you'd tell her, until one day. You were both at a friend's party and you had obviously had a few drinks already, but it was night time and she was walking you home.
Eventually during that walk, aggie had confessed her feelings. She felt exactly the same way you did, it came as a shock to you. You would've never thought. Both of you had agreed to take things slow, you began going on little dates.
But you weren't officially girlfriends, you were just dating as far as you knew. You hadn't asked her the question, and she hadn't either.
______________
"Open your eyes." aggie told you, she had been leading you to a 'surprise' for a couple of minutes. It took a while to get there but she finally gave you the green light to look. You opened your eyes, you saw the orange and bluish sky in the distance. The sound of the waves crashing filled your ears, you looked around and took every second of it in.
"Aggie..." you turned around and saw her smiling at you. She began looking around as well, you looked down to see a white sheet and a picnic basket along with two wine cups followed by a wine bottle.
"Do you like it?" aggie asked you.
"I love it...you know i kinda should've guessed where we were once i felt the sand in my shoes..." you laughed and took your shoes off, aggie stepped onto the white sheet. She handed you a pillow to sit on and she sat down as well. You smiled looking around, it felt so lonely and peaceful.
"I really love this aggie, it's very lovely...nobody has ever gone to these lengths to do something this...romantic." you smiled looking over at her. "I'm glad you like it...i wasn't sure if you would be into the romantic stuff.." aggie smiled.
"I'm very into it..trust me." you smiled and nodded. "Okay...so i packed us some fruit and a few other things, i know i already took you out for dinner...this is just something little." aggie said opening the picnic basket.
"I've got some...chocolate covered strawberries...some grapes...crackers with ham and cheese." aggie kept bringing the food out. "We obviously don't have to eat it all but...you can eat whatever you want.." aggie smiled at you.
"It all looks so good..." you smiled.
"Oh- I forgot..." aggie slowly stuck her hand into the basket, she pulled out out some ice cream. "I don't know if it's still solid...hoping it is." aggie laughed a little.
"It's my favorite...you remembered..." you smiled at her.
"Of course i remembered...how could i not you're the only person i know that likes butter pecan." aggie smiled. Aggie opened the ice cream and took the lid off, the ice cream was still intact. "Oh..it looks so good.." you said, aggie handed you a spoon.
"If you don't mind me asking...how did you arrange this..." you took a spoonful of ice cream and licked it from your spoon. "Well...i had help from Alyssa." aggie smiled at you.
"She helped? That's so sweet of her..." you smiled and continued eating some more ice cream. "Yeah, she helped quite a lot..." aggie nodded.
"I love this view.." you smiled and looked over to the sunset. "I know...i'm glad we left the restaurant at the right time- i thought we might miss the sunset..." aggie smiled and looked at the sky. "I'm gonna try the strawberries.." you said putting your spoon down.
"Here.." aggie said taking one of the chocolate covered strawberries and bringing it up to your mouth. You smiled and opened your mouth, taking a bite. You nodded. "It's so good..." you said.
"Really?" aggie asked, she ate the rest of the strawberries and nodded as well.
"Here...open up..." you said, you took a grape and fed it to aggie. She smiled and chewed it, you smiled and ate one yourself.
"This is truly one of the best dates you've ever taken me on..." you smiled. "You mean that?" aggie asked.
"I really do...it's one of the best dates anyone has ever taken me on." you smiled and reassured her. "Well...do you mind if i make it a bit more better?" aggie reached her hand into the basket.
The basket you thought was empty.
"Y/n...i really am bad at these things but i really want to ask you the proper way. I never really thought i'd fall for anyone this hard, and i've tried to keep it in me for a while...but i knew i wasn't going to be able to do that much longer. I am really sure about this...and i'm sure about us...about our future- i'm really sure about you." aggie paused for a second. She opened a tiny box and took a ring out. "It's a promise ring...and i figured- right now would be the best time to ask...if you'd want to be my girlfriend?..." aggie looked at you, a genuine look of concern on her face.
You looked at the ring then back up at her, you. heart was pounding it felt like it was gonna come out of your chest. You had been waiting for this moment for such a long time, it almost felt unreal.
"Y/n?..." aggie said your name, her voice was really shaky.
"Yes." you blurted out seconds after her. "I'd love to be your girlfriend.." you smiled. Aggie smiled at you and you stuck your hand out. "It's beautiful.." you said as aggie slowly slid the ring onto your finger. You smiled and looked at it, aggie smiled at you and leaned in slowly. You leaned in as well, your lips made contact and you smiled in the middle of the kiss.
"I love you.." you said. "I love you too...you have no idea." she said.
