Niamh was always protective over you, ever since you two met when you started playing football together. She took you under her wing and made sure you knew what you had to do. It also meant she looked out for you, whenever you were sad or upset about something she always tried being there for you.

With that being said, it didn't take long for you to catch feelings for her. You loved the way she held you when you were sad, the way she comforted you and let you know everything was going to be okay in the end. The way she knew you as if you two grew up together your whole life.

You knew she wasn't into you like that, at least that's what you thought.

______

It was a saturday night, you were walking with Niamh home from a night out with your chelsea teammates. It was already night time, the street was quite empty and the only light source were the street lights.

"You know i'm actually enjoying this more than whatever it is were were doing back at the pub.." niamh turned to you and said. "Me too actually...i was never much of a drinker.." you shrugged. "Then why'd you come?" niamh asked. Her question made you think to yourself, why did you come? You knew all they were gonna do was drink, that was kind of the whole point of going out to a pub. The reason was clear to you.

"Y/n?" niamh called out to you. You came back to reality and looked over at her. "Yeah?" you said blinking at niamh. "I asked you a question.." niamh laughed awkwardly. "Oh, i'm sorry what was it?" you asked her. "Why'd you come if you knew the only thing they were gonna do was drink?" niamh asked you. "I know you're not a drinker.." she pointed that out again.

"Well, i just- i don't know.." you looked down at the floor as you both walked across the street. "I knew you were gonna be there.." you said. A mixture of anxiety and embarrassment filled your stomach. "Is that so?" niamh looked over at you. You nodded and didn't even bother to make eye contact.

"Well what if i told you that the only reason i told you i was gonna come was because i knew you'd come if you thought i was coming.." niamh said. "I knew you wouldn't come if i had told you i had other plans...and i mean i'm not complaining i love spending time with you." niamh said. You smiled at her and nodded. "Me too.." you said.

"Sometimes i only want to spend time with you..." niamh said. You weren't sure if you heard right but you just smiled. "You know...like only the two of us.." niamh said, causing you to stop in your tracks. "What are you saying." you said. You didn't want to mix anything up, she could be referring to something else. "I like it when i'm alone with you." niamh said. You looked at her standing in front of you and shook your head, raising one of your eyebrows. "You're not catching up to what i'm trying to say are you?" niamh laughed. "I think i need to hear you say it.." you smiled.

"I like you y/n..a lot..and definitely more than friends." niamh nodded at you. "Is that clear?" she said.

You smiled and nodded. "I like you too niamh, definitely more than friends too." you said. "How long have you uh, you know.." you asked niamh. "A long time y/n." niamh responded. "Why the hell didn't you say something?" you nudged niamh with your elbow as you both began walking again.

"I wasn't sure if you'd feel the same.." niamh said. "So why now then?" you asked. "I don't know...i think it's the way the night feels.." niamh said.

You raised an eyebrow and looked over at her. "What do you mean?" you asked. "The night feels calm, i like calm nights like these..i felt okay i guess." niamh looked around. "Besides, if you hadn't felt the same way about me...i would've known sooner instead of keeping it inside of me for a longer time." niamh said. "Well, now you know...and now i know.." you said looking at her. "I can't believe it took us this long.." niamh said.

"Me neither.." you smiled.
