He couldn't.

Maurie gagged, bile burning the back of his throat. He ducked back into the corridor and tried to stop his body from rebelling against him. Levi followed him, saying nothing. A droid appeared with a bucket, and Maurie had never been more grateful. He fell to his knees and gave up trying to hold his dinner.

"We knew it was bad," Levi said as he rubbed his back. Maurie pulled away from the bucket but quickly doubled over again as more came out.

"No wonder you wanted Caleb away," Maurie said, putting the bucket down and taking a deep breath. He wiped his face with his sleeve and refused to think about it too carefully. His clothes were going to get ruined tonight.

There was a pool of blood at least several centimetres thick across the dancing hall floor, with several body parts thrown across it. Maurie didn't know there could be so much blood in the large space. How was he going to get that back into a usable space that didn't look like a murder zone?

"We got a bit carried away. It's been a while since we let loose," Levi said, holding back his echo. "It's probably good for you and Jack. We'll be less likely to hurt you badly now. But, we need some help."

"In so many ways," Maurie muttered under his breath. "We won't be able to get that completely sorted before tomorrow morning, but if we can clean the worst, we can pretend that it's a stain from the Halloween event. I assume you can make the bodies disappear?" he asked.

"We can remove the bodies," Levi said, thanking Stephen as he appeared with a glass of water and what looked like medical scrubs. "It's the mess we are at a loss for. Jack went into hysterics, and we couldn't get any decent ideas out of him." Jack failed to cope with the sight, which annoyed Levi. Maurie needed to do better if he wanted to get them out.

"Thank you, Stephen," Maurie added as Levi passed him the water. The droid grinned at him, bloody teeth gleaming in the light before disappearing into the room. The droid was one of the ones who tried to kill Maurie the most. With this mild truce, Maurie decided it would be best to be polite and try to gain some feeling of fondness. Or, at the very least, not try to piss the murderous droids off more. Maurie looked down and realised most of the walkways would have bloody footprints, too. "Where is Jack?" he asked, one battle at a time.

"We tied him up and left him in my room for now. No good panicking like that," Levi said miffed.

"He lost the game," Maurie said before downing the water. "If he's calmed, I think I'll need his help. Unless there are any droids allowed in the courtyard?" he asked, stripping his club clothes off. The droids watched him hungrily, but no one made a move towards him. There were far worse things to worry about that night than modesty. His life, for one.

"None. Why do you need to go in the courtyard?" Levi asked, hand tightening on Maurie's shoulder on the edge of pain. However, he moved to hide Maurie from direct view to stop the others from gawking at him.

"I can hardly escape in the courtyard. It's contained," Maurie said, pulling the scrubs over him. "That blood needs shifting. The only thing I can think of is to hose it out the doors into the drains in the courtyard. I need to open the doors and steer the water flow outside."

"Reasonable," Levi said, licking his lips as he looked at Maurie's thighs. "I'm sure we can put up with you out of our grip for that."

Maurie shivered at Levi's low purr and yanked the scrub pants on before rolling them to his knees so they wouldn't be wading in the blood. Levi mock pouted before leaning down to kiss Maurie on the forehead, making Maurie tense.

"When you lose..." Levi promised, his eyes red and promising.

"When I lose," Maurie nodded, reaching out to pat Levi on the chest. "Jack?"
