Chapter 31- Close as strangers

I decided to pick one of my favourite songs, 'Close as strangers' by 5sos.
It seemed a bit weird since I was dating one of the members of the band, because just a couple of months ago I couldn't even imagine to be able to know them personally.
This song was really relatable for me, because it talks about how distance always ruins relationships. Even though the song was obviously romantic, I felt like it was happening the same with Connor: now we weren't in touch anymore and who knows if we still would be able to meet.
As I started strumming my guitar, I began singing already knowing all the lyrics by heart. I lost the count of how many times I had played it in 3 years, but I still found impossible being bored with it.
I found myself singing the last line and hitting the last chord, then it was silent.
I was almost annoyed by that silence, because I think silence is the complete opposite of 'keep busy'.
Therefore I decided to look for something else to do, so I decided to exit my room.
As I opened the door (which was opening toward the inside), I found Ryland and Ross stumbling just in front of me.
"Uhm can I help you guys?" I laughed. I already knew what they were doing. "Nah we're good" cringed the older boy. What an awful liar.
"It's not like we were listening to you singing, nope" said Ryland.
"Right" I smirked. I began to walk away when they stopped me.
"You're good by the way"
"Well...thanks"
Listening that from your favourite band, almost gave me a fangirl attack that I managed to keep inside.
I went into the kitchen to find something to eat and instead I found Riker. He was boiling something.
"Woah the great Riker Lynch cooking?"
"Actually I'm boiling my bass strings" he giggled.
As long as I'd have liked knowing more about his techniques, I asked him what we were doing that day.
"We could go out to eat" I suggested since he had no clue about what to do.
"Nice, I could ask the boys if they want to come along" then he added "if that's alright with you, of course"
"Of course it is!"
"Yeah but no PDA please" he said laughing.
"Ew no!" And with that I walked away to tell the others we were going out.
Rydel was enthusiastic probably just because she'd see Michael and I together (she's the most determined Mailie shipper, apparently) and made me dress up nicely.
"It's not a date, Delly"
"Well you can always look pretty" she said styling my hair. I decided not to argue because deep inside I knew she was right, but my pride was too high to admit it.
After Rydel decided I was finally ready, we headed to the car where our siblings were waiting for us.
"Why does it take girls so long to get ready? " Whined Ross.
"Ask her! " I giggled pointing toward my sister. She rolled her eyes and got in the car, followed by me.
We were going to Taco Bell since it was midway between our house and the boys'.
When we arrived they were already sitting at a large table so we joined them.
A grinning Rocky made me sit in front of Michael, squeezed between Ashton and him.
After greeting everyone, we started eating.
"Riker called me, by the way" said quietly Michael.
"Did he apologise?"
"Yup. It was nice of him" he smiled.
"He can get overprotective"
"I noticed" he laughed.
"Sooo I didn't quite get the chance to tell you that I really enjoyed yesterday" I said.
"I did, too" he replied blushing, moving his gaze to the drink he was holding.
"You guys are really cute" said Ashton with his thick Australian accent, "but I'm trying to eat and I don't want to throw up"
"Aşshole" muttered Michael as his mate giggled.
