The remaining week passed very quick, maybe because I was very busy or because I was having a lot of fun.
Ross was insisting on wanting to teach me how to do some of those crazy stunts he was so proud of, but I always refused in order not to crack my head open. I allowed him to teach me a few simple tricks with the skateboard (which was a bit safer), and he looked really satisfied.
"I'm an amazing teacher"
"Yes, Ross, you are" I agreed for the tenth time in two minutes.
"You are lucky to have me as your mentor"
"Very lucky"
"You need to brag about me once we get home"
"I will write a book about your awesomeness and put you as my wallpaper"
"There's plenty of posters about me, too" he reminded.
"Then I'll put them in every corner of the city so everybody knows how good you are". He then stopped.
"You're not being serious, are you?" He asked.
I face-palmed.
"No, Ross, I was kidding" I told him as if explaining it to a 4-year-old.
"Oh that's a pity" he shook his head.
"Lots of people have posters of you or you as a wallpaper anyway"
"You're right, that's so cool" he admitted.
We finally got home after a quite breezy afternoon at the beginning of November, and we found Stormie making hot choco.
"Here you are, just in time!" She said. She offered us a cup each, which we gladly accepted. I then joined the others on the couch.
Today was the day the boys would be back and since they would arrive in the evening we still had a few hours before going to collect them at the airport.
"What time are we leaving, again?" I asked for something like the 100th time that day.
"7pm, Hailie" exhaled Delly.
"You're a bit excited, aren't you?" Teased Rocky.
"Whaaat, no way, I'm completely chill" I answered fidgeting. After a few moments of silence I asked,
"And now what time is it?"
"Oh my god, Hailie. It's 5 pm"
"Two more hours" I acknowledged.
They nodded.
"A hundred and twenty minutes" I added.
Some of my siblings rolled their eyes.
"Seven thousand and two hundred seconds" I teased.
"You're not going to be like this for the next two hours, right?" Asked Riker.
"Dunno. Maybe..." I smirked.
The following two hours were the most excruciating moments of my life. I was internally freaking out, checking the time every two minutes and fidgeting non-stop.
"You're going to leave a mark on that poor carpet" giggled Ross. I noticed only now I had been obsessively tapping my foot onto the carpet.
"I'm just a bit nervous okay?"
"A bit? You're worse than Riker before performing!".
Riker and I whined loudly. I checked the time once again"
"IT'S 7PM" I basically screamed.
"You almost gave me a heart attack" Exclaimed Rocky, standing up.
"Alright, get into the car before Hailie get even more hyper" instructed Riker.
"Very funny" I said sarcastically.
We all jumped into the car and Riker started driving, despite Ross' whines.
"I wanted to drive for once" he frowned.
"I am not going to die on my way to see my boyfriend after two months, Ross"
"But I'm not that bad!"
"Yes you are" we all said at the same time.
He muttered some untelligible words then put his headphones on. I did the same, trying to distract myself.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't focus on the music, my mind kept turning to Michael.
I was so excited to finally see him, after almost two months of skyping and phone calls. I missed him a lot, not in the same way I missed Connor, though. Whilst I was pretty desperate when thinking about my lost brother, thinking of Michael always made me smile, probably because I knew that in a bit more than one hour I would be holding his hand again.
"Hailie, don't freak out, we've arrived"
