Lunch was fun and most of all, Laura and I got the chance to know each other and we got along really well from the very first moment. Guess I found a new bestie.
It was a shopping day, and we indeed did shop. I wasn't one to really care about clothes and never understood what was so good about wasting your money in outfits and make up.
This time I understood that the joy wasn't in purchasing clothes (okay, maybe a pair new items would be nice) but it was all about sharing moments with your friends.
We had the best time ever together: we visited basically every shop at the mall between laughs and jokes and my two friends were even stopped by some fans for a selfie.
We finally got out of the mall with a few bags and stuffed everything in Rydel's car.
We decided to go for a walk in a park nearby, since the weather was lovely.
As we walked through the trees, I had time to fully appreciate the day I was living: my sister and one of my best friends made my day special and amazing. It completely distracted me from everything that was bothering me a few hours ago (mainly Riker but also memories of Connor, as usual).
I was happy I had the chance to meet Laura because she's an amazing person, super funny and really sweet, the kind of people I had always liked the most.
I was also glad to find a girl to talk to because, excluding Rydel, I was always surrounded by boys who obviously can't understand the complicate mixture of emotions that is a girl's mind.
Unfortunately, our day was over soon since Laura had a family meeting or whatever, so she had to go home around 6pm.
We gave her a lift home, then went back at our place.
My mind had been free from any worry until the moment we pulled in our driveway.
There was Riker washing his car and having to see him so suddenly made me freak out inside.
I didn't have time to mentally prepare myself for facing him so I simply acted nonchalantly.
He raised his head and quickly nodded towards Rydel and I could see he was unsure whether to greet me or not. He decided to wave at me and of course I greeted him back. There was no point in ignoring eachother and I had already got over the whole calling-Ashton-putting-up-endless-drama thing. I hoped he did, too.
During dinner we didn't interact much, only exchanging confused glares trying to get what the other was thinking. Rocky and Ryland were putting up enough conversation anyway.
"I'm telling you, it was a racoon"
"Don't blame racoons Ryry, next time clear the porch properly"
"But racoons always trash porches, right?"
"That doesn't excuse you for being messy"
"Tomorrow you're cleaning the porch, Rocky, and then we'll see if the day after it is trashed again"
"Alright, deal" said Rocky smirking.
Between racoons trashing porches and senseless bets, we all made it through dinner time.
I decided to approach Riker with an excuse, just to see if he was still pissed.
Long story short, I didn't have the guts to talk to my own brother so I chose another way to reset our relationship.
I quickly got in my room and took a piece of paper and wrote a short note:

'I forgive you, you forgive me and nothing happened. Deal?'

I then sneaked out of my room and tiptoed to Riker's room which, thank god, was empty.
I left the small note on his pillow and ran back into my room.
I know it was a really cheesy/kindergarten/cliché thing, but I thought it was a good idea without having to talk and 'sort it out peacefully', as Mark used to say.
I laid on my bed feeling a bit relieved and just before falling asleep I got a text.

Riker: 'Deal.'
