Next day, the boys were supposed to have a writing session. They told me they were working on a new album and needed three other songs to complete it.
The day started off pretty early and while we were all having breakfast togethe, everyone was talking about new ideas, chords and whatever.
Ryland told me,
"Hailie, wanna help me with some tunes I have to prepare? I'm not gonna write with them"
"Oh sure, that'd be interesting." I answered.
A while after, everyone was ready and headed to the studio; Ryland and I went in the basement where all the music stuff was. I noticed only now that he had his own spot where he probably made practice as a dj.
"So, we basically have to create a tune for this song to add some beat". He then let a song start playing and I remembered hearing it a few days before on the radio.
"Oh, I know this song!"
"Yup, it's pretty famous. I'll go to a party and they want me to put on some good music, so I need to create something explosive" he put too much emphasis on 'explosive'. This guy...
We started off with some regular effects, then we got to the part with a more interesting beat. There, we had to put something to change the song and make it more danceable.
"What if we put something like this?" He asked beat-boxing with his mouth.
"Isn't it a bit too much alike the original song?" I noticed. He nodded and went back to work.
I had an idea.
"Something like this?" I grabbed two pens and drummed along the tune in my mind on the desk. He seemed really focused on what I was playing and as I stopped he was hyper.
"Oh my god you're right!! How comes I didn't think of it before??". I giggled as he hurried making the beat I had just suggested. About 15 minutes later we re-listened to the modified song and agreed it was great. We high-fived and decided to bring the boys lunch at the studio.
I texted Rocky asking what everyone wanted and after I received his response Ryry and I went to McDonald's because it was the nearest to the studio.
We bought something like three bags of food since we were 7 plus the producers helping the guys with writing.
They took a break to eat and read us what they had written so far.
It was a great song and they wanted to call it Pass Me By, they said they were inspired by when they went to Puerto Rico for the shooting Teen Beach Movie.
They had almost finished it and asked me if I wanted to join them. I gladly accepted, of course.
"So, for the chorus we need a line before 'Pass Me By'" said Riker.
"I'd say something with sky, so it rhymes" said Rocky.
"Good idea!" Agreed Ross. We started thinking of a good line, when I had an idea.
"Or maybe something like 'I'm yours, you're mine'. I think it's simple but nice" I said shyly. I regretted saying that almost instantly, it looked like a stupid idea.
"Yes, you're right!" Said Rydel.
"So on the music it would go 'I can be yours and you can be mine'" concluded Rocky, singing the sentence while strumming his guitar.
He stopped and waited for our approvals. Everyone thought it was good.
After a few minutes the song was finished and we went back home.
The sun was high in the sky so we decided to use the pool.
