"Hello guys. They're just about to start" cheered Calum. I took a seat next to Michael and my siblings did the same.
"Which one is Ryland?" I asked hinting towards the field where all the players were.
"That one over there" said Rydel, who was sitting next to me, pointing to a purple-dressed boy jogging after his team mates to warm up.
I nodded.
The game started and from the very beginning Ryland's team was slightly winning. We were all cheering for his team and the boys in particular were hyper about the whole situation.
Riker was looking quite tense and was checking his phone very often, probably waiting for someone to call or to check the time.
I made my way towards him, passing through my cheering brothers and friends.
"Everything alright?" I asked him.
"Y - yeah why?" He said with his eyes widening.
"You're checking your phone every two minutes"
"I... just want to know how much time our team has left to play. They'll win" he said, looking proud of finding an excuse.
"Right. Are you waiting for Cassidy to text you?" I said smirking. He blushed furiously.
"You like gossip way too much" he muttered absent-mindedly reaching for his phone in his pocket, stopping when he realised I was still there.
I laughed, "I'm leaving you alone so you can check that damn phone in peace"
He thanked sarcastically.
I went back to my seat, determined to find out what he told Michael about Cassidy.
"Here you are. They scored once again" said my boyfriend excitedly.
"Great! Listen Mikey, did Riker tell you if Cassidy and him made uhm improvements?"
He laughed at the way I put it.
"I honestly don't have a clue. Why?"
"He's checking his phone obsessively. Look!" I stated, pointing matter-of-factly towards him. My brother was indeed on his phone, now texting.
Michael frowned and tensed up a bit.
"I'm gonna see what's going on" he said not really sounding convinced.
I nodded and turned my attention to the game, and asked Ross and Rocky to sum it up a bit. The two immediately started talking pretty eagerly at the same time, resulting in a gibberish explanation I had a really hard time understanding.
What was clear was the fact that RyRy's team was winning, which was enough information for me.
The game was now close to an end, when Michael stood up.
Seeing my puzzled look, he replied with a quick 'going to the bathroom', followed by Riker.
Those two are hiding something from me.
"Ash, is Michael by any chance bi or something?"
"What are you talking about??" He asked bursting out laughing.
"If he were I swear he'd be cheating on me with Riker" I replied laughing, too.
"Weird. How comes?"
"They're being secretive and all. Do you know what's going on?"
"I uh no... Wasn't Riker texting that girl, Cassidy?"
"Don't know. I think so" I replied, almost being interrupted by the crowd cheering to another score.
A few minutes after the match was over and Ryland's team was recognised as winner. Michael and Riker were back just in time to witness the closing ceremony, and I caught them both glancing at me from the corner of their eyes. I decided not to ask further questions because I was positive they'd just make up more excuses.
We had to wait a few minutes for Ryland to change and then we went home. I was unconsciously giving Riker the silent treatment, I simply didn't feel like talking to him, nor to Michael.
As we greeted the Australians, Michael came close to me and quietly asked me what was wrong.
"Why are you and Riker acting so secretive?"
"It's a surprise"
"Can I at least know when this surprise is coming?"
"I don't know if I can tell you. Ask Riker once you get home". I slightly pouted but kissed him goodbye and joined the others in the car.
The car ride seemed to last forever, but I finally found myself in the livingroom.
