Katherine Elyse's POV
"Place your thumb right..." Sir Greggy mumbled and he reached to move my thumb gently to correct the position of it.
"Sir Greggy... pag talaga hetong golf club ang nabato ko tapos nakatama ako ng tao... kayo ang sisisihin ko." seryoso kong saad sa kanya kahit medyo kinakabahan.
Nandito kami ngayon sa Manila Golf and Country Club, tinuturuan nya kasi ako mag golf ngayon. Nung una ay nagtataka nga ako kung bakit sya ang sumundo sa akin sa school kanina, ang sabi naman nya ay 'I told you babawi ako sa'yo, and this will be our bonding.'
"No silly! Kaya mo yan... So put your thumb here."
"Now pull back."
"Do a full turn."
"...and swing."
Yan ang mga sunod sunod na instructions sa akin ni Sir Greggy.
The club connected with the small white ball with a clangor, sending it flying towards the hole.
"Well done, Ely!" Sir Greggy smiled as he patted my shoulders gently.
"Ang dali mong natuto!" he complimented me again.
"Ako lang po toh!" wika ko at nag-flex ng arms ko.
"This is actually really fun po ah! Akala ko nga po it would be boring but... I like it."
"It's relaxing right Ely?" I nodded.
"Your brothers and I love to play, glad we can add some new blood to the team!" he exclaimed.
"Huh? Kayo nalang po, nandidiri po kasi ako sa dugo."
"HAHAHA" ngayon naman ay tumawa s'ya.
Ang expensive ng tawa, the laugh is richer than me.
"Ely, your mom and cousins are right. You are indeed funny."
"Sus maliit na bagay." tugon ko, slapping the air as a sense of sassiness and confidence.
We exchanged warm smiles despite my awkward shifting from foot to foot, clutching onto the club for a sense of support.
It had been so long since I had had a father figure in my life, my grandfather was long gone. So i have to admit that I didn't mind the adoration and ease found with Sir Greggy or the thought of him as a father- ano? Erase. Erase.Erase.
But seriously speaking, being with him is different than being with his wife, it is more natural being with him. Hindi ko din alam kung bakit pero I feel like mas makakabiruan ko pa si Sir Greggy, ang serious kasi masyado ng asawa nya kung titignan, nakakatakot.
Also he said that golf course had always been his place of calm amid the chaotic business industry he lived most of his life. Out here on the green he found tranquility and balance. He always made time to do something energetically during the week so that he could be a present and stabilizing force for his family.
"How about we go home and get something to eat? I heard you enjoyed the Italian restaurant you've been to, so I decided to have their full menu delivered to the house for dinner." He declared as we ascended onto the golf cart awaiting us nearby.
"Seryoso po kayo? The whole menu?! Kaya nyo pong lantakan yun lahat?" I laughed wide eyed as I sit next to him. Iba talaga pag sobrang yaman.
"I'm not complaining po ha! Masarap po kasi eh."
He giggled as he began expertly driving the vehicle on the path back to their home.
"How was your day with your Mommy last sunday?" tanong ni Sir, sobrang tahimik kasi ako, wala din naman ako ikkwento.
