Future Luna

Chapter 23

"Where are we going" I asked Jace.

  "You'll see" he smiled.

  "Oh?" I smiled back.

  I looked out the car window for most of the ride. Everything flowing through my brain: I can't believe I'll be 18 in a couple hours. If I am Jaces mate that will make me a Luna and that comes with a lot of responsibility, not to mention the threatened challenges, and my party tomorrow. I'm trying not to stress about any of it. I just want to have a good night with Jace.

  "Why do you look so worried" Jace placed a hand on my thigh.

  My leg jumped as the tingling was getting stronger.

  "You feel that huh? He raised a brow.

  "Mate bond" I responded.

  He smiled, I smiled bigger.

  I never really cared to think of having a mate until recently. The thought would have my stomach in knots, but now.. I really want it to be him..

  "What's wrong love" Jace pulled back to the original question.

  "Nothing"

  "You're lying, you know soon you won't be able to do that"

  "Do what?" I asked confused

  "Try to hide your feelings"

  "I just have a lot in my mind right now"

  "We have about an hour drive left, talk to me"

  I sat quietly for a second before I took a deep breath "I'm going to be a Luna" was all I could force out.

  "Yes, a very good one at that"

  "It's a lot of responsibility"

  "We will handle everything together" his hand gripped my thigh.

  "Also.." I didn't want to finish the sentence.. Jace looked over at me, "Archie and Dutton said they will challenge who ever is my mate. They need me in their pack to make business deals smoother, is what they said"

  Jace took his hand off my thigh and grabbed the steering wheel tightly, "so they just want to use you".

  I didn't say anything just looked out the window. "You don't have to worry about them, they will never have you" Jace smiled at me "trust me". I couldn't help but smile back.

  Finally we made up to our destination. Jace opened my door and I saw a cabin, we was on a mountain no one around for miles. The view was breathtaking and I could hear a waterfall nearby.

  "This place is amazing" I looked at Jace.

  "Our little hide away for the future" he winked.

  I was giddy with excitement I wanted to see the whole place.

  Jace unlocked the door and let me in. This was amazing. Downstairs was a game room, the second floor had a beautiful kitchen with a wrap around balcony that had a hot tub. The whole upstairs was a room with a huge bathroom, the tub was big enough for 4 people or more and the shower had two waterfall shower heads.

  Jace came in and dropped two bags. "I brought you some clothes as well" he said.

  "Thank you I wasn't even thinking about it"

  He came up to me grabbed me by the waist, "around an hour and you will be my Luna". I couldn't help but smile.

  Jace leaned down and kissed me before going downstairs.

  He returned with a meat lover's pizza. My favorite.

  He started a movie and we both dug in. About 45 minutes went by and Jace got up "I'll be right back".

  I sat and waited for him and my eyes began to fall. It was almost midnight. My birthday. I was trying to fight off the sleepiness.

  "Sky" I heard Jace whisper and I sat up to see him with a big chocolate cupcake and a candle in it.

  "It's a minute till midnight" he said and walked over to me "make a wish".

  I closed my eyes..

  I wish that Jace is my mate I thought to myself.
