| Jenna's POV |
(not proofread)"So-" Billie started as she packed our stuff in the backpack she brought. I tucked my hood closer over my head as we walked stealthily down the street to where Lloyd's house was. "Let's see we do find him, yeah? What do we do next? He's a big guy apparently and he was in jail for a reason."
"I have a plan." I assured her in a firm tone, my eyes glued to our dark surroundings. "You worry too much."
"I think I have every right to." Billie raised her hands in defense. I stopped for a moment and swiftly turned to her, causing her to harshly stop in her tracks.
"You can always back out, you know? You don't have to come here." I reminded her as crickets could be heard all around us.
"I said yes for a reason. If you get in trouble, then I get in trouble. I won't let you do this shit alone." She snatched the axe from my free hand. "We got this, okay? Just promise we don't kill anyone."
"We're not." I immediately promised with a shake of my head. We continued to walk until we approached the backyard of the house. "So, based on movies and books and tips I've read, I know just how to get inside."
"Oh do you?" Billie gave me a sarcastic smile. I flashed one right back at her as I took my backpack off. I pulled out a crowbar from it as well as some bolt cutters.
I approached the back gate of the yard, cutting the lock that kept the gate shut. We entered with precise and quiet movements. I then took the crowbar and began to quietly jam it in between the door and the doorframe, wiggling it just enough to push it open. It was a quiet crack noise that happened when I did so.
"I'm scared of you now." Billie whispered when she witnessed what I did. "Nah, I'm scared for everyone that fucks with you or Y/N."
"Damn right." I grunted a little as I crouched down on my feet, putting the tools away again and pulling out a pocket knife. Billie brought some rope out and I handed her the knife as I snatched the gun that was hidden in my pocket.
"Woah." The girl before me froze when she saw it. "Where'd you get that?"
"Being famous isn't easy." I pulled back the barrel, the bullets inside clicking as I readied them. The safety was now off. "I bought one, legally, to protect myself and my family if anything were to happen."
"And now we're using it illegally." Billie mumbled annoying from behind me as we entered the back door, being met with the cold kitchen floor.
"Follow me and keep quiet." I told her and earned a firm nod in response before we continued on. Our first destination was Lloyd's room — there was nothing left in there but broken beer bottles now. Then his mom's room was completely empty of people. We heard the television playing from the living room.
'His mom isn't here' Billie signed to me so we could communicate without making noise. I let out a small sigh and signaled her to follow me. When we peaked out from behind the wall, we sat her boyfriend, Diablo. He sat on his recliner lazily with a beer bottle dangling from his fingers.
Billie gave me a look before she moved to sneak to the other side of the room, keeping our distance hidden behind him. I did the same but stayed in my side of the room, bringing the fun closer to my chest.
Billie stood up with slow movements. I followed suit and hesitated for a moment before huffing quietly, pressing the tip of the gun to the side of his head.
"Keep quiet." I told him with determination in my voice. Diablo glanced my way, I saw him reaching for something until Billie jumped in, yanking the weapon from his hand and throwing it across the room as she pressed the open knife to his throat.
"Don't move." She said and let out a breath. We had masks on so he wouldn't know it was us. Even if he had no clue who we would be. "Here's how this is gonna go..." Billie looked at me to finish.
This was the part I didn't exactly think through.
I stepped forward with the gun still pointing at him. Billie slowly packed up, keeping her knife aimed at him from a distance. Diablo kept still and calm, looking into my eyes through his hooded, black ones.
"Answer our questions." I demanded. "Who bailed you out?"
Diablo scoffed. "No one. That's the thing, Chico, no one did." He stood up which made me press the gun up to his chest where his heart is. "I escaped and had this friend of mine who works at the jail lie to everyone that I made bail."
"So you're a wanted man?" Billie questioned with confusion in her tone. Diablo smirked as he looked at her.
"Yeah. Sounds right." He raised a brow before sitting back down.
"So why assault this kid named Lloyd?" I asked, jumping to the point. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Billie dialing 911 and stepping out the door. Diablo kept his eyes on me.
"I hate that kid with a passion." He inhaled deeply. "He's a pussy like his mom. He can't even fight-" I don't know what came over me to slam the barrel of the gun into his head, causing him to wince as he pressed his hand to the spot that began to bleed.
"I swear to god, if you ever touch him again, I'll come back here myself and kill you." I lowly threatened in time until Billie came back.
"Cops are coming to arrest him. Take him back to prison." She informed out of breath.
"Hell no." Diablo stood up and I slammed the barrel into his head again, causing him to fall back into his chair. He grabbed my arm and moved my arm away, attempting to tackle my open waist but Billie took the knife and jammed it into his knee. "Fuck!"
"We gotta go!" She yelled to me, snapping me out of my shock as I yanked my arm out of his grip. We left the man to suffer alone as the sirens grew closer and closer. "We need to leave before they search the area to find us." Billie kept rushing me.
We ran for what felt like forever until the sirens blended into the silence of the night. I looked at Billie who breathlessly collapsed back against an old fence, shaking her inhaler and taking a puff from it.
"I'm sorry." I broke the silence between us. She looked up at me before stumbling to her feet, grasping my shoulders.
"This wasn't a you thing, it's a we thing." Billie gestured between us with a firm look in her eyes. "We can't tell Y/N or Olivia about what happened. And especially Lloyd either. This is between us."
I let out a breath as I stared at the ground, nodding numbly. "Yeah... okay." Billie took my hand comfortingly and we walked back to where we parked the car.
