"I'm nervous." Jenna wiped her sweaty plans on her jeans once again as I drove up to her parent's house. "I'm scared, I'm anxious. I don't even know what to say. 'Hey mom and dad, I knocked my girlfriend of 6 months up and we plan to keep the baby'."
I chuckled and kept one hand on the steering wheel while my other reached for one of hers. "Everything should be okay, baby. Don't stress so much, you'll get grey hairs."
Jenna looked at me with wide eyes before taking a calming breath in time for me to pull into the driveway. "Let's go honey." Jenna got out first and opened the door for me, helping me out of the car. "You're gonna be okay." I kissed her cheek as we walked up to the doorstep.
Jenna knocked shakily and I held her bicep, rubbing her shoulder to bring some comfort. The door was immediately thrown open to reveal Natalie. It would be dinner with just her parents and then the rest of her family next. Telling her parents was already a big enough step — I didn't want to overwhelm her more than she already is.
"Welcome in, sweethearts." Natalie smiled warmly and opened the door for us. Jenna stepped aside to let me know first, sliding my jacket off my shoulders and hanging it for me. "We're so happy to have dinner with you two again."
"Great to be here, Natalie." I smiled as I hugged her. Jenna sat on the couch nervously, fiddling with her fingers.
"Dinner will be ready soon!" Edward called from the kitchen, Natalie followed after him, leaving Jenna and I by ourselves in the living room.
"How you holding up?" I whispered to my girlfriend, kissing her cheek gently.
Jenna's hand shook slightly in mine, resting her head against my chest. "I'm okay. I haven't yet prepared for their reactions so."
"Everything will go great. No matter what they say, I'm right here." I smiled, making Jenna sigh with relief as I kissed her forehead.
"Dinners ready." Natalie popped in and I dragged Jenna with me to the kitchen. Jenna sat down reluctantly at the table beside me, I held her hand under the table and settled our hands on my thigh as Edward served us all.
"So, what brought you two over? Not that we don't love having you." Natalie asked as she unwrapped one of her tamales.
"Well-" I glanced at Jenna who swallowed hard. "We had something to tell you guys." As her parents looked at us, Jenna remained silent with anxiety. I could practically feel the panic radiating off of her. I placed my hand on the back of her neck, caressing it slightly to help. "We are-"
"Pregnant. She's pregnant and I really really hope you're not mad about this or disappointed because I was so terrified but now I feel like this might be a good. And yes, I know that we've only been dating for 6 months but I think this could really be a new blossom in our relationship and I would really appreciate it if you guys could be supportive." Jenna rambled out in one breath, her eyes blown wide as she glanced nervously around the table.
I was a bit shocked but I held it in as I nodded confidently, kissing her bicep when Jenna was all tensed up.
"W-well-" Edward started with a clear of his throat, a small smile forming on his face. "Jenna, honey, we do support you. We might think it's too early but we will help you every step of the way."
"I agree. Don't you worry, sweetheart. We're not judging. We love Y/N and if this baby is what you two want, then you have our support." Natalie held her daughter's hand. "We promise."
Jenna's face cracked with a smile of relief. "Thank god." She sighed and hugged her parents. I chuckled as they hugged me as well.
"She was really nervous." I looked at Jenna who gave me a loving look, kissing my cheek before leaving to go to the restroom.
"We could tell." Edward said, grabbing a napkin. "And Y/N, thank you for making our daughter the happiest she's ever been."
"You really do light up her world." Natalie added. "She's never been with someone who is as accepting as you are and we're so happy that she has you. She loves you very very much."
"I know." I blushed a deep red, my heart fluttering uncontrollably. "I'm just glad I make her that happy."
