"We'll be home soon, my love. I promise." Jenna whispered sleepily, her eyes fluttering open and closed. "Juno misses you a lot, I miss you way more, and I just wanna sleep in your arms. I haven't been sleeping well."
That made me frown. We were up late on another FaceTime call to get as much time together as possible. Long distance was not for the weak - good thing for us was that we had the money and resources plus the capability to go to each other.
Our busy schedules were the problem.
"I'm sorry, honey. Just two more days, you're right, we can hold on for each other." I gentle spoke to her, continuing to watch my fiancé slip in and out of consciousness, sleep wanting to overtake her body.
"Just... promise me... lots of cuddles." She tiredly slurred, pausing between her words. Before I could respond, I heard her soft snores and smiled, watching her sleep peacefully.
I could see the heavy bags under her eyes and that proved the fact that she was severely tired, her days without me made her lack sleep. I felt so bad, but I knew she could hang on for two more days.
Then our usual schedule will be back to normal.
I quickly muted myself as Billie walked into the room. I didn't hang up on Jenna though, I stayed on the call. I finally understood why couples did this - it made one or both of the person in the relationship feel safe.
Safety was a necessary component of our relationship and I was happy to provide it to Jenna like she has to me.
"Hey, I was thinking of doing something. I don't know if it's stupid or not, but, wanna come?" Billie asked, making me smirk a little.
"Always. Lemme get my shoes on. I'll leave my phone with Zoe so she can keep an eye on Jenna."
"Ooh, Jenna is on?" Billie snatched my phone, looking at my sleeping fiancé. "Damn, she cute when she's sleeping."
"I know." I chuckled as I grabbed my phone back. I put my shoes on, grabbing my keys and wallet. "Alright, let's go."
"Yes!" Billie cheered.
We left the hotel room, walking a few doors down to give Zoe my phone and soon, we were leaving the hotel altogether. We walked down the street and since it was around 7 pm, the sun was already down and it was pretty chilly.
Billie had her arm around my neck, the both of us acting like little kids again, jumping over the cracks on the sidewalk with our arms around each other.
In a way, it felt like that one scene with Riley and her friend seem Inside Out.
"And we're here." Billie smiled proudly as we stopped in front of the doors of a tattoo shop. "I thought we could get matching tattoos."
"This is a stupid idea." I deadpanned, making my best friend's face drop. "But I absolutely love it." Her smile quickly returned as we walked through the doors, being met with an extremely tatted up guy with green, curly hair.
"Wassup, y'all. What can I do for you?" He asked, putting some gloves on.
"We want matching tattoos. I already have an idea that I think is perfect for us." Billie said for the both of us.
"Aight, man, let's get y'all into a chair. Follow me." He directed.

"Do you regret it?"
I smiled, looking in the mirror. "Not one bit. I think this was a pretty good idea, Bil."
"Told you it was perfect." She giggled, paying the man who did your tattoos for us. "Let's go."
