We were already nearing Billie's birthday and Christmas. Yesterday was Hailee's birthday and I made sure to wish her a happy birthday, sending her a little gift in the mail. Billie was planning what to do for her birthday and we were thinking of keeping it more simpler this year.
It would be more chill - meaning no crazy or big parties like usual. We'd spend it wherever we are which might be Maggie and Patrick's house - and it meant inviting close friends and family only.
We were in Glendale right now, settled down in our hotel room. Juno was playing with Billie on the floor, Jenna was in the kitchen cooking, and I was sort of sitting down waiting to do something productive.
"Hey, babe?" Jenna called for me. "Wanna help with this?" I swear this woman can read me like an open book, I just know she can see how bored I was.
"Sure, what is it?" I waddled over to the kitchen, leaning over the counter.
"Well, I'm making taquitos and I need help rolling the tortillas. Can you come over here and roll them while I stuff them with the meat?"
"And chiles!" Billie shouted from the floor.
"And chiles." Jenna confirmed with a laugh.
I walked over to stand beside her, Jenna placing two street size, corn tortillas in front of me at a time. She took a spoon and put shredded beef in the center of one, and a spoonful of green chile with olives in the other.
I washed my hands real quick, returning to my station and carefully rolling the tortillas. When I rolled them, I set them on the plate nearby that had the others. We did this for another 5 minutes until we had 20 stacked on the plate.
I rinsed the dishes out so Jenna could start frying them in a pan of oil. We used vegetable oil since that's what we cook with 95% of the time and it's vegan.
Billie picked Juno up, setting her in her high chair behind the counter. I started to wash the dishes, my best friend walking up to help me.
"Have y'all considered when you're getting married? 2025?" Billie broke the silence.
"Definitely next year, but the day is still unsure."
"We're waiting for Juno to walk." Jenna added. "That way she can be our cute, little flower girl."
Billie smiled. "Yeah, she'll be so cute like that."
I finished the last dish, feeling my stomach churn with nausea. I ignored it, taking a sip of water to stabilize myself and took a deep breath.
"Taquitos are ready!" Jenna beamed, plating our food for us.
"Here, baby." I have Juno her small bowl of baby food, watching her pick the spoon up. "Enjoy."
Jenna kissed my forehead when I saw beside her on the stools. Billie munched down on her taquitos immediately, making the hashafashasha noise because of how hot it was.
"Enjoying tour so far, Bil?"
She swallowed the food. "Yes, it's going good. Except when people can't shut up during when the party's over and throw bracelets at my face." Billie rolled her eyes annoyed.
"I'm still mad about that." I grumbled, crossing my arms but Jenna uncrossed them and used my hand to make me start eating.
"Yeah that's bullshit." Jenna added, proudly watching me eat. "Good thing you threw it back out into the crowd."
"I feel like the fans haven't been as genuine as they should be. Which makes me sad and I bet the longer lasting fans are mad about that." I said, cleaning Juno's mouth up. She makes a big mess every time she eats.
"Perhaps, but my other fans are loyal and respectful and I still love them all." Billie muffled out. "Some more than others just need to know about boundaries."
"True."
Jenna cleaned the rest of the dishes so I could watch Juno and Billie left to go for her concert practice. "Baby?" I asked.
"Yeah?!"
A snicker left my lips. "Have you thought about doing some house hunting before the wedding so we have somewhere new and adventurous for us newly weds?"
Jenna's head snapped over towards mine. "Uh, yes. I have thought about that a lot." She ran towards me, grabbing her Apple laptop and sat beside me on the bed. "I've been looking at some to get an idea of things that we'd both like."
She opened the pictures she had, I curiously peered over her shoulder. Juno crawling in our laps. "This one is a 3 bedroom, two and half bathroom house with a breakfast nook, almost 2 acres of space for a backyard, giant open spaced kitchen, two car garage, and your favorite... walk-in closets."
I gasped excitedly. "Oh my goddddd, I love walk-in closets!"
"I know." Jenna grinned. "Plus the backyard is huge so Daisy can have fun running around, we can build something fun for Juno, and other cool things."
"There's so many possibilities." I hugged her bicep as we kept scrolling through the other pictures.
"What about this one? It's a 3 bedroom house, 2 full bathrooms - one with a stand alone bath and the other with a walk-in shower - 300 square foot backyard, 2 car garage, porch, breakfast nook, walk-in closets, open kitchen/living room, and a deck."
I smiled. "What's the price they're asking?"
"Almost $600,000." Jenna said, doing the calculations in her head. "Which would put us at almost $400 a month or we pay it all up front."
"Intriguing. Let's keep looking."
