Dia emerged from the bathroom, a lightness in her step and a soft hum escaping her lips as she toweled her hair dry. The warm steam from the shower clung to her skin, and the faint scent of jasmine filled the air. She wore a confident smile, oblivious to the storm brewing within Rudra.
As she turned to face him, her eyes sparkled with a playful glint. “Rudra! I was thinking we could go out for dinner tonight. Just the two of us. What do you say?”
But Rudra’s expression was dark, his jaw clenched tightly as he suppressed the anger boiling beneath the surface. “You think it’s okay to act like everything’s normal?” he snapped, his voice low and menacing.
Dia blinked, taken aback by his sudden intensity. “What do you mean?”
“You hurt Aayara,” he said, the accusation hanging heavily in the air. “You burned her arm. How could you do that?”
Dia rolled her eyes, dismissing his concern with a wave of her hand. “It was just a little tea spill. She’ll get over it. Besides, she’s your brother’s wife now. What’s it to you?”
Rudra stepped closer, his frustration spilling over. “She’s not just some object you can treat poorly! Aayara deserves better, and I won’t let you hurt her anymore.”
A flicker of annoyance crossed Dia’s face as she crossed her arms. “Why are you defending her so fiercely? She’s just a pretty face who got lucky!”
Rudra’s fury ignited. “Because she’s a good person, and you’re acting like a selfish brat! You don’t even realize the damage you’re causing. Aayara’s not your competition, Dia. She’s a human being!”
“Don’t you dare talk to me like that!” Dia shot back, her voice rising. “I am your wife, and you should be supporting me, not siding with her!”
“I didn’t choose this!” Rudra growled, the tension in the room palpable. “I didn’t choose you or this situation. But I refuse to stand by while you bully someone who’s done nothing to deserve it.”
Dia’s smile faded, replaced by a scowl. “You think I’m bullying her? She’s just weak. If she can’t handle it, that’s not my problem.”
Rudra shook his head in disbelief. “This isn’t just about strength. You’re playing a dangerous game, and it’s going to backfire. You need to change your attitude before it destroys us all.”
Feeling the weight of his words, Dia’s bravado faltered for a moment. “You think I care about what happens to her? She has everything I want!”
“Then maybe you should focus on what you can change instead of hurting others to get what you want,” he said, his voice softening slightly. “I don’t want to fight with you, Dia. But I will protect Aayara.”
With that, he turned away, leaving Dia fuming in his wake. As he left the room, she clenched her fists, frustration coursing through her veins. She couldn’t believe Rudra would side with Aayara over her. This wasn’t over; she’d find a way to regain control.
Dia slumped back onto the couch, her irritation bubbling to the surface. She ran a hand through her hair, frustration coursing through her veins like wildfire. What is it about Aayara that captivates them both? she thought, her heart pounding with envy. Arjun doesn’t even love me! Why can’t I have that kind of attention from him?
She clenched her fists, recalling the way Arjun’s eyes had softened when he looked at Aayara. It felt like a dagger to her heart. And Rudra! He’s supposed to be mine, yet all he can do is defend her. What does she have that I don’t?
Dia glanced at her reflection in the nearby mirror. She knew she was beautiful—her features perfectly sculpted, her skin flawless, and her body fit and toned. So what if Aayara is innocent and sweet? She sneered, That doesn’t mean she deserves their affection more than I do.
As she thought about the lavish wedding, the way Aayara had looked in her bridal attire, jealousy twisted in her stomach. Is it her mangalsutra, her sindoor, or the way everyone around her acts like she’s some goddess? The thought made her blood boil. She’s just a naive girl who doesn’t understand this world. I’m the one who knows how to play the game!
The more Dia ruminated, the more determined she became. I won’t let them see me as weak. I will prove to both of them that I deserve their love and attention. I won’t let Aayara take what’s rightfully mine!
Her mind raced with schemes, plotting her next move. I need to show Rudra that I can be the wife he needs, and I’ll make rudra see me as the only one who matters.
With renewed vigor, she stood up, smoothing down her saree and fixing her hair. She wouldn’t be overshadowed by Aayara any longer. If she had to be ruthless to get what she wanted, so be it.
Let’s see how long Aayara can keep up this facade before I shatter it.
