Arjun walked into the room, his shoulders heavy with the weight of the day. He loosened his tie, his expression stoic, and glanced at Aayara, who was curled up on the bed. She looked peaceful, her face serene against the soft glow of the bedside lamp.

Raising an eyebrow, he sighed, exhaustion etched into his features. Without a word, he headed to the bathroom to shower. The sound of water running filled the silence, and Aayara stirred slightly but didn’t open her eyes.

When he returned, dressed in his usual black t-shirt and pajama pants, he slid into the bed beside her. The mattress dipped under his weight, and instinctively, he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.

Aayara stiffened at his touch, her heartbeat quickening. Slowly, she turned to face him, her hand resting lightly on his chest. Her eyes fluttered open, taking in his tired face.

"Why were you late?" she whispered, her voice soft and tentative.

He hummed in response, his eyes still closed. "Work," he mumbled dismissively.

She hesitated but pressed on, her voice barely above a whisper. "At least tell me how your day went. You never talk to me. Why are you always so silent?"

Her words broke through his exhaustion, sparking a flicker of irritation. He opened his eyes, his expression darkening.

"What is your problem?" he snapped, his voice low but sharp. "Can't you see I’m tired? I don’t have time to sit around all day like you, Maharani! Can’t you just shut that useless mouth and let me sleep?"

The venom in his words made her flinch. He turned away abruptly, his back to her, pulling the blanket over himself as he muttered, "Just leave me alone."

Aayara lay frozen, her chest tightening with each harsh word. She stared at his back, the warmth of his embrace earlier now a distant memory. Her eyes welled up, but she refused to let the tears fall.

Biting her lip, she whispered to herself, "I just wanted to talk... to be close to you. Why do you always push me away, Arjun?"

The silence of the room swallowed her words, leaving her with nothing but the ache in her heart and the growing realization that perhaps, no matter how much she tried, the walls around him would never let her in.

The next morning, Aayara woke up to an empty bed. Arjun was already gone, his side of the bed cold and untouched, as if he had left hours ago. Her heart sank. He hadn’t even spared her a glance before leaving, she thought bitterly.

Meera’s words from the day before echoed in her mind, sharp and cutting. “He will throw you away... you’ll mean nothing to him." They churned in her head like a storm, each syllable seeding doubt and fear.

She pushed her face into the pillow, muffling the sobs that threatened to escape. Tears soaked the soft fabric as she trembled, her hands clutching the edges of the blanket tightly.

"My dear baby," she whispered softly, her voice breaking with emotion. "If I have to lose everything, even my love for him, I will. I won’t let you suffer. I won’t end you, even if it means ending myself and this... this no-name relationship."

The words felt like a vow, a promise she made to the tiny life she was unsure of but already fiercely protective of. The room around her felt emptier than ever, and for the first time, she realized she might have to prepare herself for a life where she stood alone.

Wiping her tears, she sat up slowly, her hand instinctively resting on her stomach. "You’ll have me," she murmured with quiet determination. "Even if no one else stands by us, you’ll have me."

Resolute, she stood, ready to face whatever the day would bring, even if it meant braving Arjun’s cold indifference or Meera’s biting taunts. She had to be strong—not for herself, but for the fragile hope growing within her.
