Dia laughed, her voice ringing through the room. “What wild things did you both do back then? After all, you were in a relationship,” she taunted, raising her voice intentionally to draw the attention of the guests.

The laughter around them grew louder, and Aayara felt her heart sink. Whispers began to circulate, filled with judgment and scorn. Did Aayara really call her ex-boyfriend to humiliate Arjun? How shameless!

Aayara bit her lip, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she lowered her head, trying to avoid the prying eyes of the crowd. She had never intended for this to happen, and the reality of her past was catching up with her in the worst possible way.

Across the room, Arjun's expression darkened, his jaw clenched tightly as he absorbed the scene. This is happening because of her and that idiot, he thought, feeling his reputation teeter on the edge. The murmurs of the guests cut deeper than any physical blow could. He had worked tirelessly to build his family's name, and now it felt like it was crumbling due to Aayara's thoughtlessness.

“What’s wrong, Aayara? Afraid of what people might think?” Dia pressed, feigning innocence but clearly reveling in the attention. “You used to date him. Surely you have some entertaining stories to share with your guests!”

Aayara’s heart raced. She could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on her. “It was a long time ago, Dia. It doesn’t matter anymore,” she managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.

“Doesn’t matter? You think people aren’t interested in your little history?” Dia sneered, looking around as if to gather more support for her cruel game. “I mean, you brought him here tonight, didn’t you?”

The room filled with snickers, and Aayara's heart sank further. She could see the satisfaction in Dia's eyes and the twisted pleasure it gave her to humiliate Aayara in front of everyone.

Arjun took a step forward, the urge to protect Aayara surging within him. He had promised to stand by her, to be her husband in every sense of the word. But at that moment, he was torn between the anger bubbling up inside him and the desire to maintain composure in front of their guests.

“Let’s not dwell on the past,” Arjun finally spoke, his voice low but steady. “This is a celebration, not a gossip session.” His eyes were icy as he looked at Dia, warning her to back off. He couldn’t let her continue to tear down Aayara like this.

But Dia was undeterred. “Oh, come on, Arjun. Don’t be such a spoil sport!” she laughed, her tone mocking. “Everyone wants to know what the lady of the house has been up to.”

Arjun’s anger flared, his patience wearing thin. He turned his attention back to Aayara, searching her face for any signs of distress. “Aayara, you don’t have to answer anything,” he said, his voice softer now, though the fire in his eyes remained. “Just ignore her.”

But Aayara felt the walls closing in, the laughter surrounding her echoing in her ears. She looked up at Arjun, feeling a mix of shame and frustration. Why did this have to happen?

“Why not just ask her about her relationship with Zehan?” Dia pressed on, clearly enjoying the chaos she was creating. “I’m sure they have plenty of memories to share!”

The crowd buzzed with interest, eager for more. Aayara’s breath quickened as she felt the room closing in around her. She had to put a stop to this, to regain control of the situation.

“Enough, Dia!” Aayara finally snapped, surprising even herself. “I won’t let you drag me into this any longer. My past is my past, and it has nothing to do with this evening!”
