[it might be you]

Third person's pov

The air crackled with the excitement of a thousand graduates, their laughter and chatter blending with the celebratory music. Becky stood near the edge of the crowd, her gaze fixed on the figure of Freen, who was making her way out of the packed graduation area. A bittersweet ache filled Becky's chest as she watched Freen disappear into the throng of people.

As soon as Freen was out of sight, a wave of memories washed over Becky. The memories on how Bright look after Becky after their break up—until they came into this way.

FLASHBACK

" Hey, Becky. Can I talk to you? " Bright stated as soon as he sat beside Becky. Becky looks up, her eyes red-rimmed.

" That's when I saw him. Bright. He was the one who always made me smile, even when I felt like the world was ending. "

" I saw you crying. Is everything okay? " Bright asked. Becky shaked her head.  " No, it's not. "

" You are crying, I'm right. What's wrong? " The lad asked.

Becky hesitates, then tells him about her feelings with Freen. As she speaks, tears stream down her face. Bright listens patiently, his hand gently resting on hers.

" You're not lost. You're just going through a tough time. And I'm here for you, okay? Maybe another person is really meant for you. Sadly, it's not Freen. " Bright responded.

" How come? "

" Maybe other person is supposed to be with you, and you should be open for it. Let yourself feel it again. " Bright added.

Becky looks at him, her heart starting to feel a little lighter.

" What do you mean— "

" Try it with me. "

Those are the words that came out from his mouth that startled Becky.

" I know it’s probably the last thing on your mind, but… I just… I feel so helpless watching you like this. " Bright added. Becky stares at him, surprised.  " What do you mean? " Bright looks at her, his eyes pleading " I know it’s a strange thing to ask, but… I just…  I want to be there for you.  I… I don’t want to see you hurting like this.  Please, Becky, just let me try. Let us try. " Bright almost beg.

Becky shakes her head, her voice wavering,  " I don’t need a rebound, Bright. I need time to heal. "

Bright's voice cracks, his eyes welling up,  " I know. But… if you ever need someone to talk to, someone to distract you, someone to make you laugh… please, let me be that person. I… I just want to help. I… I can’t bear to see you like this. Please, Becky, just give me a chance. I'll be better than Freen. " He said as he holds the hand of Becky.

" I don’t know, Bright. "

" Please, Becky? Just give me a chance. I promise I won’t let you down. I… I just want to see you smile again.  I… I can’t stand to see you like this. Please, Becky, just say yes. " Bright tried again. Becky sighed as she stares at Bright's eyes. Those eyes are concern and serious.
