The loud bell rang.
Dinner had ended.
Like every other night, students filtered out of the dining hall, their footsteps echoing down the long corridors as they made their way back to their rooms. The usual low murmurs and laughter faded, swallowed by the vast emptiness of the castle halls, leaving only silence in their wake.
Y/N watched them go, the warmth of their conversations lingering in the air. Through the tall windows, the night stretched endlessly, stars scattered across the dark sky like spilled diamonds.
She wasn't sure how long she had been standing there, her mind tangled in the events of the night.
Taehyung.
Dragging the blonde girl out of the hall without a word. The way the room had stilled, how everyone had watched-and cheered. The smug curve of the girl's lips, as if she had won.
And yet, through all of it, the only thing Y/N could remember clearly was the weight of his stare before he left-the way his eyes had found hers.
A strange unease settled in her chest.
Finally, she forced herself to move, stepping into the dimly lit corridor toward her room. Her thoughts were too loud, her body too tense. She needed to clear her head, to shake off the feeling that clung to her like a shadow.
She pushed forward, her legs heavy.
But before she could take another step-
A hand closed around her wrist.
Before she could react, she was pulled into the shadows, her back pressing against the cold stone wall.
A second hand covered her mouth, muffling the sharp breath that nearly escaped.
Her body tensed, instincts flaring-until a familiar voice whispered against her ear, low and smooth.
"Shhh... it's me."
Her breath hitched.
Slowly, she looked up.
Jungkook.
Even in the dim corridor, his dark eyes burned into hers, something unreadable flickering behind them. His hand lingered a moment longer before sliding away, his fingers brushing against her lips-leaving behind a trail of warmth. Strands of his dark hair fell over his eyes as he watched her, unmoving.
She swallowed hard, pulse unsteady. "Jungkook...?"
His gaze didn't waver.
"You were taking too long." His voice was quiet, but there was something in it-something deeper.
Her brows furrowed. "Taking too long for what?"
He didn't answer right away. Instead, his eyes traced her face, slow and deliberate, as if searching for something. Then, the corner of his mouth lifted-just barely.
"Come with me."
Before she could protest, his fingers tightened around her wrist, and he pulled her with him-into the shadows.
Jungkook's eyes scanned their surroundings as they moved, pausing occasionally when dragons soared overhead or professors passed in the distance.
His grip was firm, fingers wrapped around Y/N's wrist as he pulled her through the dimly lit corridors. The school was a labyrinth of endless twists and turns, yet he navigated it with purpose-like he had done this a thousand times before.
Y/N stumbled slightly as he led her deeper into the castle, away from the student dormitories, away from where she was supposed to be. The torches flickered along the walls, casting shifting shadows as they hurried past. She had never been this way before.
