...
March had passed in a blur, a blur full of laughs and good times.
I wasn't as damaged as my mind had tricked me and I found myself smiling more and more each day. It was nice. It was nice to finally be able to wake up each day, not in fear but in anticipation for the future to come.
Since it was the first week of April, a chilly week at that and also my spring break, my cousin Olivia had someone how persuaded me to attend a concert with her. Not just any concert but some band her and her newly official boyfriend both enjoyed.
I was never one for the loud screams of sweaty fans or the ear splitting volume of the performers, but since I dearly loved my cousin I thought to myself, "Why not?"
There was also a bonus to this, since my cousin was bringing a date I could force Luke to attend.
And that is why currently we are standing in a line that wraps around an arena, waiting for the doors to open.
"So you guys are seniors this year right? Where did you guys apply?" Olivia's boyfriend, Harry asked, trying to make small talk.
He was a nice guy and considering the fact he was able to deal with Olivia's spunk and mania, I immediately had to approve of him.
"I applied to a lot of schools but my hope and dream is to get accepted into NYU." I told him, I come to learn that Harry was a genuinely kind person as well, at least compared to the other jerks my cousin dated.
"Ah, NYU I wanted to transfer there but something made me want to stay." He squeezed my cousin's lip to which she let out a squeal.
"What about you Luke?" Olivia asked hugging Harry who smiled with all the affection in the world.
Luke shrugged and tightened his grip on my hand, "I think I might go back home."
"You don't want to go where Cayden's going?" Olivia seemed surprised since the last time we spoke I could not stop talking about the blonde boy.
"I would love to but I can't hold her back. I want the best only the best for her." Luke admitted.
Both my cousin and Harry just nodded and luckily it only fifteen more minutes passed before security started to let everyone in.
Although the arena was considered small , it was almost filled by the time we discovered out seats. We were on the floor, in the middle and had a decent view of the band.
"Would anyone like anything to eat or drink?" Olivia asked to which we all replied we were a bit hungry.
"Okay, Harry can you come with me to the snack bar? I'm sure they have to have something." Olivia sat her person and jacket on their seats to make sure no one stole them.
"Are you excited for this?" I asked Luke after we didn't say much, the whole time we barely spoke to each other but for some reason today was just hard to speak.
Luke shrugged, "I have seen a lot of concerts in my life, this will be the best one so far."
"And why is that?" I asked.
"Because I'm with you." He simply stated and wrapped his arms.
And in was that moment that I realized, moments like these were going to cherished the most, but they were also going to hurt the worst.
"Where do you think Olivia and Harry went?" I questioned, I check my phone they had been gone for at least a good fourth minutes and the concert was starting in another fifteen.
"Who knows, maybe they were getting it on in the bathroom." Luke joked and I laughed at the absurdity of the idea. My cousin would never do that.
But the world has a funny way of proving me wrong as five minutes later, Olivia and Harry returned, a but dismantled. Their hairs were a mess, lips swollen, and I'm pretty sure I could already see a large purple mark on Olivia's neck.
"Where's the food?" I decided to corner Olivia with a smirk.
She seemed flustered as Harry answered for her, "The line was very long."
"I'm sure it was." Luke smirked and I silently laughed.
Thankfully for Harry and Olivia, the lights began to flash signaling the concert was about to start.
The omnipresent feel of adrenaline and excitement pumped through my veins and I felt myself screaming along the rest of thousands.
Suddenly four people emerged from the stage and it seemed as if an earthquake would happen at any moment.
I felt myself standing on my tippy toes as everyone began to stand up. But soon I was off the ground and my legs on Luke's shoulder's.
I held on to his hair to not lose my balance and with his height, I could perfectly view the stage.
Five songs into the concert, I saw Harry nudge Olivia who then quickly followed him, away from the crowd.
I didn't question anything but I made a mental note to interrogate her later but for now, I was living for the moment.
And by the time the concert ended my lunges hurt from cheering and swear covered my face from the heat of everyone. Ringing still filled my ears after the band left but I didn't mind, I was still worked up.
Olivia and Harry had returned a couple of songs before the ending and I saw my cousin motion for us to exit.
Just about everyone had the same idea to leave right now but a few were waiting until the crowd died down.
"Did that just really happen?" I tightened my grip on Luke's hand, afraid I would lose him in this large hassle.
But before he could respond, I left a push on my left causing the drink of another to spill on my shirt.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" A male voice apologized as his can fell to the ground.
It was not the most pleasant ending to a concert but I still high on the adrenaline and happy I had a good time that I honestly didn't mind. But Luke did.
"Could you watch where you are going?" Luke's protective side came out in an instance.
"I'm so sorry dude, I didn't mean to spill my drink on your girlfriend." The stranger with long dirty blonde hair explained. He was intimated by Luke being a giant and his muscular build.
"It's okay." I told the guy who nervously giggled and apologized once again.
I shook it off and reassured him, at the same time I squeezed Luke's hand to tell him to back off.
"Some people need glasses I swear." Luke muttered as we exited the parking lot; he was still caught up in the non exist confrontation.
I didn't say anything and let the silence lure me to sleep.
I only slightly woke up wen the car came to a stop and I felt two hands unbuckle my seatbelt and lift me up.
The last words I heard before I completely knocked out were,
"I love her, I really do."
