I sighed, it was time.

I heard the door shut, heavy boots padded across the wooden floor, keys thrown on the front desk.

"Cay, I'm home dear!" Ashton shouted, probably taking off her usual grey suit jacket.

It's been three years after we got married and even though life has calmed down for us, even though we were content and happy, there was something missing between us. We didn't want to say what was bothering us, but the way we touched each other, the way we looked meat each other, we both knew.

"Hey darling." Ashton entered the kitchen, I felt his two large hands on my waist, "Dinner smells really good. How was everything at the studio?" He kissed the temple of my head.

"Everything's going great." I smiled, everything was. I had just purchased a small area for my own studio that would be opening up in a few weeks.

"That's great baby." Ashton walked over to the fridge to grab a water bottle.

I stopped stirring when I heard his breathe hitch. "Ca-Cayden what is this?" Ashton questioned, unsure what was happening.

I looked over my shoulder to find Ashton holding the small cake that Olivia thought was a "great idea to purchase!"

"Cay?" Ashton asked again, gesturing to the blue and white cake with a small yellow duck on it.

"Are w- are you preg-" Ashton stuttered emotions raging between the two of us.

I bit my lip, nodding as I was afraid to see his reaction. Ashton immediately engulfed me in his arms, not caring that he dropped the cake.

"You're pregnant." He whispered, spinning me around, "You're pregnant!" He announced kissing me all over my face.

"We are going to parents Ashton!" I laughed, only seeing a brighter future from here on out. I was going to be a mom soon and nothing more excited and filled me with happiness.

I couldn't wait.

...

"We are sorry ma'am but the baby is gone." The doctor, whose face I refused look up, announced the devastating news to us. Each second that went in silence, tore my heart. My mind went numb, I tried to carcasses my stomach as if my baby was still there.

"I'll let you two be alone, I'm truly sorry for your loss." The doctor quickly walked away.

"Cayden, honey." I felt Ashton place his hands in my shoulders. It was supposed to be in a loving manner but I could tell he was holding back. He should be angry at me, absolutely furious that I just killed the one pure source of happiness for us.

"I-I'm s-sorry." I gushed out, holding my face in my hands. I felt hot tears leak like acid down my face, praying for something that I never got to hold.

"Hey, hey." I felt my chin being lifted as I was forced to look into the hazel eyes I found comfort in, "It's going to be okay."

"But are w-we going to be okay?" I shook, knowing that there was a barrier between us now.

I tried to hide my face again but Ashton wasn't having it, "Remember the day we go married? For better or for worse?"

"For sickness or in health." I repeated, kneeing her was talking about our vows.

"I'm not leaving you, ever. Nothing will happened between us. We are a team, we can get through this. I'm going to help, just let me help sweetheart." Ashton pleaded and for an instance I saw his eyes turn blue.

I nodded, knowing there was hope even though my heart and soul ached.

...

"Robert! Where did you get that bag of marshmallows?" I scolded the three year old boy who looked at me with as much innocence as he could muster.
