Monday mornings are the worse, the absolute worse. After all I wasn't still one hundred percent recovered from being sick yet and to top it off I had school.
"Are you sure you want to go to school today? You're still a tad bit sick sweetheart." Luke rested his hand against my forehead once again to check my temperature.
"Yes, I'm sure." I tilted my head away from him, making sure I wouldn't cough on him.
...
When I arrived, the bell ran causing me to practically sprint to my math classroom. On the way to school, I remembered that our test grades would be posted outside the door today.
When I was filling out my application for NYU, I noticed that I had to maintain certain grades and the only one I had problem with was my math grade of course.
Although the semester didn't end for another two months, every little grade counted to boost up my GPA
"Cayden slow down! You nearly crashed into five people." Luke huffed while I scanned for my ID number.
"Come on, come on. Where is it?" I re checked the list, I must have skipped my name.
"Sweetheart, you are on the wrong class period." Luke motioned toward the paper next to it.
"Oh." I mumbled now hurrying to find my number on the new list. My finger landed on the right ID, my heart beating fast.
"A B plus." I said in disbelief. The corners of my mouth turned right right and I nearly attacked Luke with my hug.
"Thank you, thank you so much for helping me." I rambled. As much as I would love to take all the credit, I simply couldn't, it was because of Luke that I was one step closer to my dream.
Now I would have to build up the courage to tell my step mother, I have no idea if she would disapprove of my major choice, photography, but I had a gut feeling she would not, after all Lea was probably going to major in something intellectual like biology or history.
But I would have to tell her eventually because after all she did have control of my money now that she was my legal guardian.
And to be honest, I was dreading the moment I would have to.
...
"Luke, I don't want to go to second period." I suddenly stopped walking resulting in him to do the same. Rylan was in there and I have no idea how he or I would even react to each other.
"We can always skip and go to the forest if you want." Luke suggested but I shook my head, it was time I put on a brave face.
The atmosphere was quiet and I felt like every person was watching my every move.
This was like how it was always because no one got use to the looks of Luke yet; I can't blame them, heck I wasn't still. But paranoia washed over me causing me to believe they were watching me because of what happened with Rylan. News travels fast in this school and a date between one of the most popular boys in school and a nobody, me, would spread like wildfire.
Rylan was sitting in usual seat, but instead of his attention being captivated by his phone he was tapping away, clearly thinking. When he saw we walked in, his head shot up.
"Do you want to go with you?" Luke whispered in my ear.
I denied his request and found my feet slowly and dreadfully carrying me toward Rylan.
"Hi Cayden." I was about to speak but he cut me off, "Look I know I was being a total jackass on our date and I ruined everything. It's just, it just-"
"It's just what Rylan?" Somehow finding my voice.
"It's just I'm jealous of Luke? I mean you two always hang out and when he came on our date, I was intimidated. It didn't help that you looked so gorgeous and that I knew this date had to be perfect and I screwed it up. I'm so sorry." He admitted, a tiny of red crept on his cheeks as he scratched his back.
"Rylan I don't know what to say." I admitted. I couldn't believe this was happening. This had to be a dream, Rylan of all people was apologizing to me.
And the butterflies were back.
"Then say yes." He murmured.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Yes? To what?"
"Attention everybody!" Rylan stood up from his chair. The whole class even the teacher was staring at us.
I grew suddenly conscious, "Rylan, what are you doing?"
"I just want to do this right and I want everyone to see. Cayden would you do the exquisite honor of going to homecoming with me?" He dropped on knee as he was proposing to me.
My mouth dropped in shock. All eyes were on me and I was at a lost of words.
"Well Cayden?" Rylan's blue eyes were very hopeful.
"Yes, of course I will." I smiled and surprisingly most of the class cheered, however a few girls were in disgust at the new homecoming pairing.
I quickly glanced at Luke before Rylan hugged me.
If looks could kill, Rylan would be dead tenfold.
