Kanvi's POV:
I lay still in the soft glow of the early morning, the faint orange of dawn slipping through the thin curtains. The world outside was quiet as if it held its breath in awe for the moment. My gaze lingered on Vihaan, who lay beside me, undisturbed, his face turned slightly toward me.
He was breathtakingly beautiful, even in the stillness of sleep. His jet-black hair fell messily over his forehead, a few stubborn strands refusing to be tamed. The gentle rise and fall of his chest matched the rhythm of my own breathing, and I could hear the faintest whisper of each exhale.
His brows, dark and slightly arched, gave his face a quiet intensity even in repose. The lashes that framed his eyes were impossibly long, fanned out like delicate ink strokes against his cheeks.
My gaze drifted downward, tracing the sharp line of his nose, elegant and perfectly balanced. His lips, slightly parted, were soft and full, the lower one a shade plumper, as though inviting my touch. There was a faint shadow of stubble along his jawline, a rugged contrast to the smoothness of his skin. His collarbone peeked out from the loose neckline of his t-shirt, a subtle yet striking curve that made my heart ache.
My fingers twitched, aching to reach out, to trace the contours of his face and commit every detail to memory. But I held back, afraid to disturb the serene perfection of the moment.
I looked at his lips, soft and inviting in sleep. I remembered the countless times those lips had curved into a smile, making my heart skip a beat. The way they had whispered sweet nothings in my ear, sent shivers down my spine.
As I looked at Vihaan, I felt my heart swell with emotion. His dark eyelashes fluttered slightly as he dreamed, and his chest rose and fell with each gentle breath. His broad shoulders and muscular arms, which had held me so tenderly, now lay relaxed and still.
Instead, I leaned in closer, my heart swelling with a quiet, overwhelming love. I could feel his warmth, the faint scent of sandalwood clinging to him, grounding me in the present.
Unable to resist, I leaned in and softly pressed my lips to his. The touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt Vihaan's lips curve into a gentle smile, even in sleep. I lingered for a moment, savouring the taste of him, before pulling back. It was the gentlest of kisses, a featherlight touch that barely lasted a heartbeat. Yet it sent warmth through me as if I'd been touched by the first rays of the sun.
I pulled back, my heart thudding softly in my chest, and slipped out of bed with practised care. My bare feet touched the cool wooden floor, and I stood for a moment, watching him. The peaceful rise and fall of his chest, the way the corner of his mouth twitched slightly as if responding to a dream, was enough to make me smile.
I turned away, padding softly out of the room, but my heart stayed behind, tangled in the quiet beauty of the man who lay sleeping, unaware of the love that brimmed so fiercely in my chest.
As I opened the door, a wave of familiar scents enveloped me. Coconut and tulips. My favourites, neatly arranged as if he'd crafted a quiet symphony of comfort and love. On the counter, my favourite bath salts, oils, and lotions were laid out, their delicate fragrances mingling in the air. He had thought of everything, even when we'd been apart.
I sank into the water, letting the warmth embrace me, the scent of coconut and tulips wrapping around me like a tender memory. I closed my eyes, inhaling deeply, my heart softening further. If anyone ever asked why I chose to forgive Vihaan yet remain a little angry, this was the reason. He knew me too well and loved me in ways that made me feel seen even in the quietest of moments. I didn't want to ruin this chance, this delicate balance where he was angry, then me, then he again, and now me. If I kept up with it, this war of emotions would spiral endlessly. Instead, I chose to put a full stop, to embrace the beauty of what we had.
