Heart Aches

Author's POV: 

The night was as dead as the silent dead sea. The sound of crickets could wake the goosebumps on anyone's skin, such was the intensity. Kanvi's body looked frozen in one place and her body was sweating profusely. As if something grave had taken place, she opened her eyes wide and sat on the bed straight looking around to find someone.

Finding no one to her aid, she got down from the bed and walked to the bathroom stumbling. She saw herself in the mirror and the sweat was all over her face and neck. Her underarms and the fabric around her neck look very much drenched giving out a stinky smell. Kanvi turned on the geyser and sat on the cold floor of the bathroom thinking about the events happening lately. 

It was just two days ago, her graduation ceremony took place and Vihaan sent her the yellow carnations breaking her heart. The day where he exposed her kept repeating in her mind that it's been very hard to brush it off like she does everything. 

The switch fell indicating that the water was enough hot for her to bathe. She took a fresh bath and walked out. She picked up her mobile to check the time and there were 18 missed calls from Winter. The time showed 2:18 AM and those 18 missed calls were in 5 minutes. 

Scared, she called Winter back only to get picked up for the first ring. There were sobs from the other side. 

"Kanvi, we need help immediately! Ean's been shot and we're stuck in the middle of the road!" Winter begged from the other side of the phone and Kanvi's body slightly started turning cold in anticipation and fear.

" Win.... Winter.... Don't panic. Try putting some cloth around his wound. Press it down. Send me the location." Kanvi said panicking and put on the clothes she found on the top of the closet shelf. She grabbed her car keys and purse and ran to the -3 level of the building. 

She brought the engine to life and zoomed out of the township. Her hands are cold and trembling just thinking about the situation. 

" Did you call the ambulance?" She asked and Winter cried mumbling a yes. 

" I did. And it's going to take an hour at least. I'm scared something might happen to Ean." Winter sobbed and Kanvi's heart sank with her each cry. She tried connecting Katherine and her frustration was over the peaks with the uneven signals and bandwidth. 

" Ean.... please open your eyes. Please look at me." Kanvi heard Winter's voice from the other side and her eyes were blurred with tears. 

" Hello! Who is on the other side?" They heard Katheirne's sleepy tone.

" Kate, get your car and bring yourself to the location I sent," Kanvi said urgently pressing the maximum pressure on the accelerator. The car sped on the calm roads making a swift sound in the erry silence. At that moment, it looked like she was ready to hit any person that came her way. 

The location of Witner's has suddenly disappeared and her call was cut. 

" Win?" Katherine asked in a trembling tone and there was silence from Witner's side. Kanvi checked her mobile and it was just Katherine and her on the call. 

" The location disappeared," Kanvi said frustrated.

" I took a note of it. It's Watford, 5 km from where you stay." She said but Kanvi's heart was far from thinking straight. She had this unsettling thing in her heart. She is feeling everything negative. 

Kanvi's car slowed down as she saw someone on the road trying frantically to stop her vehicle. Kanvi stopped the vehicle and got down swiftly taking Witner into a tight hug.

" Some....someone shot him. I...I don't know how to drive the car Kanvi." She hiccked up and Kanvi took a deep breath. She asked Witner to help Ean get into the car and they together put him in the back seat. Winter took the back seat and Kanvi drove to the nearest hospital.
