The morning was a gentle whisper, a lullaby woven in golden light that spilled through the skylight, kissing the world awake. But to Vihaan, nothing in the universe, no sunrise, no constellation, no celestial wonder compared to the woman sleeping peacefully in his arms. Kanvi.
She stirred slightly, her breath a soft sigh against his skin, as she nuzzled closer to his warmth. Her delicate hand found its way to his chest, resting there like it belonged, her fingers curling slightly over his heartbeat. Vihaan exhaled slowly, feeling an unfamiliar peace settle over him. It was a kind of stillness he had never known, the kind that made the chaos of the world feel distant, insignificant.
His gaze drifted down to her fingers, those same hands that had clutched him so desperately last night, nails digging into his back in passion, in need. A faint smirk played on his lips as he traced over the faint marks of her love, tiny crescent moons etched into his skin. He gently took her hand in his, lifting it to his lips, pressing the softest of kisses to her fingertips. A few remnants of his peeled skin clung beneath her nails, a silent witness to the intensity of the night they shared. Yet, there was nothing brutal about it, only the rawest, truest form of devotion.
Kanvi stirred again, her lashes fluttering against her cheeks before she nestled herself deeper into his embrace. She looked utterly divine, serene, untouched by the world outside their sacred little cocoon. Her lips parted slightly, and in a voice still laced with sleep, she murmured, "The morning feels so peaceful... so pious."
Vihaan felt his chest tighten, something unnamed swelling inside him. He had never been a man of blind faith, but looking at her now, he understood what it meant to worship. He had never known what it was to truly admire something, someone, with every fiber of his being, but here he was, studying every curve, every breath, every drowsy murmur as if she were the only masterpiece ever created.
He leaned in, brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face before pressing a lingering kiss to her forehead. "You make it feel that way," he whispered against her skin, his voice thick with emotion he wasn't used to showing.
Kanvi hummed softly, eyes still closed, a contented smile ghosting her lips. Vihaan memorized it. Stamped it onto his soul. He had been enamored before, intrigued, fascinated even, but never like this. Never with a feeling so potent, it felt like it could burn him alive.
As she drifted back into sleep, Vihaan remained still, watching her as though the universe had conspired to give him something so rare, so precious, that even time itself didn't dare to interrupt them.
And in that moment, he knew, no man could ever admire a woman more than Vihaan admired Kanvi.
He watched her, his eyes tracing every delicate rise and fall of her breath, as if counting the seconds until she finally chose to welcome the morning. The golden sunlight seeped through the skylight, painting her bare skin in soft, glistening hues. Her body was tired, her bones ached, but her soul— oh, her soul was at peace.
She had always known, right from the start, that this moment would come. She had faith in them. Faith that one day, she'd wake up in his arms, their bodies tangled in warmth, exhausted yet complete. Only she knew how many nights she had fallen asleep staring at him, tracing his sleeping form with her eyes, wondering how she had become a part of his once-peaceful life. And now, here they were, so impossibly close that even their heartbeats didn't know which belonged to whom anymore.
Kanvi stirred, her lashes fluttering against her cheeks as she stretched ever so slightly. The duvet slid down her body like silk, revealing the subtle marks he had left, each one a whispered claim of passion and devotion. She gathered her tousled hair over one shoulder, her fingers lazily combing through the mess he had made of them.
