Emily- can you come to mine for dinner tonight?

Me- still grounded, so no.

"Everything okay?" Mom asks over her coffee.

"Yeah, just the girls, checking in." I say waving my phone before putting it down.

"Did you email your principal that list of boys?" Dad asks, walking into the kitchen whilst fixing his tie.

"Yes, I did it last night." I tell him, reaching for a slice of toast.

"Good." He kisses my mom's cheek before fixing himself some coffee.

I eat my toast silently, just eating and drinking my coffee.

"Can Logan come over later?" I ask.

"Yeah." My dad shrugs.

"No. You're still grounded." My mom argues.

"But I'm bored." I shake my head trying not to sound totally bratty.

"Why don't you do some homework?" She suggests and I all but gag.

"Do your homework Grace." Dad tries to hide his laugh.

Once I finish my breakfast and coffee I head upstairs to my bedroom.

I should do my homework.

I reach for my phone and text Logan about his ongoing ban.

Logan- we can have tomorrow.

Ugh I groan.

I try to make my bed and get distracted by my clothes on my bedroom floor and then my closet.

Ugh.

I ignore all of it and open my laptop whilst sat at my window bay, but of course that's in direct view of my unmade bed.

I go in that endless cycle for hours.

"Please come over tonight. My mom is making pop overs, I don't have enough people for this. Ali is so stressed." Emily begs down the phone.

"I'm sorry Em, trust me if I could I would, except I can't." I sigh.

"Is your parents really making that much fuss?" Emily asks.

"Trust me, I've never ever seen them like this. They won't even let Logan over. And he's always been an exception." I complain.

I'm so bored in this house I might genuinely go crazy.

My mom has been catching up with her friends all day between phone calls and people coming over to the house. It's meant I haven't even been able to hang out with her. I've just been in this messy room.

"Really? Your parents love Logan." Emily points out.

"Yeah I know." I sigh.

"Pip." Dad knocks my bedroom door and peaks his head in.

"I've got to go Emily." I say and quickly end the call.

I look up at my dad and he looks around my room.

"Your mom and Steph are making lasagna." Dad comes into my room and starts straightening up the items on my desk.

"For all of us?" I ask.

"Yeah but I have an order placed at the grille in case it all goes wrong. You know Steph doesn't stop talking and your mom is easily distracted." He lets out a laugh.

He starts picking up dresses and skirts off of the floor and putting them in the hamper in my closet.

Mom's friend Steph is currently living in New York, they've been friends since high school.
